Is WoW going to shut down?

One day it will.

Just not yet.

Not yet.

You’re talking to me about self deprecation? Agreed, though. I’m just not feeling troll on it.

I think we just created a freaking Game Show! pretty much a rip off of another one, but one for the forums. No. that’s terrible. NM. I should delete this post, but I wont.

When the shutdown is imminent, I’ll pre-emptively toss soulstone on it so it can get back up.

Hopefully it doesnt stand back up and get hit by one (or multiple) of the dozens of boss/trash mechanics that are going off at the same time as multiple affixes are needed to be dealt with

the topic always comes up and is pretty much a dead horse at this point.

In a way these things do one of two things.
It either creates a negative feedback loop where the loudest streamers give some mild criticism and suddenly everyone is up in arms about something that isn’t really that big of a deal (see example: master looter, or the various memes dunking on Torghast despite being genuinely fun content) or people flock to the games defense to tell everyone it’s fine, it’s not going anywhere, etc.

I think people should ultimately be cognizant of how often they interact with the game because the Netease drama proved that, no matter how well the game is or how long it lasts, it’s still, ultimately, finite.

But on the flip side, this IP has exchanged hands multiple times going from Blizzard to Activision and now Microsoft. It is amazing to see how the game has changed to maintain relevance and not stagnate even after 9 bloody expansions.

I think the game is in good hands, well… at least in so far as longevity is concerned.

On the actual topic, I see Dragonflight as Recessionary. It comes off the heels of a dark time where the game design, features and story was for a period of time aimless and adrift with no clear leadership or direction. The infamous Lawsuits exacerbated the problem but they were more like a symptom.

For better or worse, that book is now closed, but I do think the game is in good health right now.

Everything ends, WoW will too.

This is someone new to the game, not some cynical forum edgelord saying it for the hundredth time.

Is it though? Runescape and Everquest are still going.

I’ll stake out the extreme long position – WoW will shut down by the time that increasing Solar luminosity raises Earth’s temperature enough to make C3 photosynthesis impossible in about 500 million years.

ROFL.

Bad troll is bad.

Its gonna shut down eventually , nothing last forever , and anyone thinks thats something lasts forever is a fool

They claimed that it’s a fact that WoW is not profitable while not giving any facts in their post. So, I tend to agree with you.

That was all of Activision/Blizzard, not just Blizzard lol.

Lol wut?

Eternity lasts forever

Senatrix is trolling 100% of the time.

(That’s more charitable than the other explanation that springs to mind.)

WoW is still the largest MMO on the market. Its only real competition is FF14 which is a good bit smaller in overall population than WoW.

How thats not really a thing tho, you can also say time lasts for ever or numbers go for ever lmao

It is a thing. After you die. (No offense intended)

Really how do you know, have you died before ?
