Hey all, new to WoW… came from EQ2 and the TLP server (Time Locked Progression)… is WoW Classic going to do the TLP route as well or is it permanently where it is now?
TLP, we’re about a month off from hitting “phase 4” the Zul’Gurub content patch. There will be 2 more phases after that each bringing new raids.
Huh? That doesn’t answer my question I dont think… will they add expansions in the order they did at first and keep adding or how will it work? Like TBC next, then TBotLK, then Cata etc etc… or just content updates without new races/classes/dungeons etc? Sorry, just dont know much about WoW but I dont want to level to 60 and then be done.
No one knows.
Pollz is right that no one knows, but it’s a very safe bet that we’ll see The Burning Crusade Classic and Wrath of the Lich King Classic in the future. Probably not Cataclysm, though. Cata seems pretty universally disliked, and it’s when much of the old world was overwritten with newer content.
It’s likely that each expansion will be independent (on it’s own servers), and similarly TLP with phases and content releases in line with what actually happened during that expansion.
The argument for this view is that it will absolutely make ActiBlizz a ton of money from subscriptions, and won’t cost much to produce. However, nothing is certain.
Classic wow is time locked in Vanilla with certain content that unlocks in phases. No expansions, progression will stop with phase 6 which will be the final raid of vanilla wow, Naxxramas.
Huh? So no, it will not have progressions or expansions ever? Then after phase 6 what happens? Clearly that cant be the end.
Not saying I liked or disliked Cata as a whole… but Cata did make me happy when it destroyed all those crappy qsting zones I had been forced to bounce around from with my old toons to lvl. Gave me a sense of vindication for all the suffering they caused.
Every phase there is progress to be made
You can not access the latest phase until it is released, essentially it is locked in time
So yes, this is in fact time locked progression, why do you keep saying it isn’t lol
For now… blizzard left it open ended as if they might do tbc but haven’t confirmed anything. That’s why people think we will get content past naxx.
TBC and even WOTLK locked servers will definitely be coming out in the future, they just won’t have anything to do with classic servers.
Get out retail.

Wait, so you believe Classic will end at phase 6 and never get an expansion or move past that? It will just stop there and then future “NEW” servers will be expansion based? I don’t see that logic.
Probabaly seperate universe with character copy abilities.
EverQuest Project1999 has been locked to the same expansion years and years now. It is still popular and it turns out, if people love a game…they will continue playing it even if there is no new content.
The devs described classic as a museum piece. Last time I went to a museum most paintings didn’t have someone there adding after it’s already on the wall.
Hah, fair enough and makes sense.
There are plenty of other games that have TLP servers, and yes they stop at a certain point and stay there. If you want a wow server that continues to progress I would recommend retail. How do you not see the logic in them making new servers specifically for other past expansions? I don’t see the logic in them all of a sudden forcing people on classic servers to have to play TBC when that’s not what they signed up for.
