Long story short I keep having massive lag spikes. Where i usually hover around 50/50, 60/60 ms I’ll be fine for about 10-15m then it jumps to 200/300, 150/200 then back down to stable. Its been happening very very frequently.
I did all the granny fixes for home and test my ping on other games and they are immaculate.
Right now WoW is the only underperformer. I can’t do the content I want to do because of it and I’m just stuck flapping around doing mining hoping the game fixes itself.
There was a wave of DDoS attacks yesterday because of people wanting to ruin other peoples’ fun. Try again today and see if you have any other issues. I get the odd spike on a normal day, but they’re neither consistent nor frequent. I’m on wired Fiber. My pings are sub-20 to a server nearby to my geographical location.
Also this. WiFi is always more subject to spikes given the nature of the technology. Drivers help, but they won’t overcome the latency brought on by signal saturation and other fundamental flaws for gaming. If your space doesn’t have ethernet runs, look into powerline (IP over power) or MoCA (IP over coaxial).
I had an episode where the game (Era) went out of sync and two characters in a party were not seeing each other. One of them I was unable to log off and had to alt-F4. This didn’t used to happen when we saw DDOS attacks or lag spikes.
