Look, I am an older guy… slower moving these days, fingers hurt etc…but I absolutely love PVP and want to keep playing but its just too many keys, macros etc
I get destroyed in PVP. I have read every guide, watched every video, downloaded every /wa, macro, UI. I have played around 100 matches between solo shuffle and 2’s and I barely win 20% of them.
I get it, I need to GIT GUD. The truth is, I just wont ever be and I am ok with that, sorta.
So last night a guildie recommended WotLK and doing that PVP. It never occurred to me. They said WotLK PVP is WAY less complicated, a lot less buttons and classes are way more linear and easier to get good at.
I have only been playing since 9.1, so no idea what WotLK is like. ANy input from you guys? Think I could have a more fulfilling experience there? and if I may ask, is there a spec there that is pretty OP and a good one to start PVP on?
WOTLK is a part-time job/ full time
you need to do PVE
and you deal with in-game politics
if you are not in the good boys club you are going to struggle
Ahh I had no idea. So clearly I am way late to the party to really be able to progress easily huh? PVE is just awful, and it sounds like necessary for PVP. What a bummer.
There’s a lot of bs being spoken in here about Wrath. No, you don’t gotta get raid gear to do very well in Wotlk arena. Pvp gear is all you need. Rogue, Warlock, Hpal, Dk, resto Druid are among the best specs to play and were really easy to master. Stack as much resilience as you can.
I’m also an older guy so I can relate to your situation. Wrath and BC were the easiest arena we ever had. I haven’t been back over 2200 since lol.
Not true. Its viable for sure ; not on the same level as hpal/disc though. You can play a decent amount of comps in 3s (favoring wizard comps) and it can work with almost every dps in 2s.
You’re still making all the important decisions. There’s still intense fast paced moments. You’re just not constantly filling every GCD with basic damage buttons. Every ability has a bit more of a situational niche, and the time between is just filled with white damage / basic ability casting like lightning or frost bolt.
Cooldowns are longer across the board so there’s more downtime between goes.
It’s ‘slower’, but imo not really in a way that matters. Like if the thing you love about pvp is doing pve damage rotations, you wont might not like wotlk.
Class identity is more defined. Not everyone has a stun and a kick, and win conditions vary a bit more. Rather than set ups, there’s a lot more mana drain, rot, etc.
idk about how pvp is on wrath classic right now as far as activity. I know people always complain that top arena is just like 3 specs, but retail has that problem as well.
I like wrath pvp more, but my friends play retail and I don’t want to put in the time to play wrath alone, plus I’ve been there, done that. DF is new to me and even if I don’t agree with their choices, there’s something to be said for just discovering and messing with new features.
