A long time ago, each tank kind of had its intended limitations. Pallys didn’t have much range and had to use linken’s bow to pull. DKs were not very mobile, etc. etc. Warriors big thing was mobility. Now we’ve reached a point where it seems every tank can do everything… except warriors and to an extent druids. I have played all tanks and enjoy all tanks but I am often frusrated by things that other tanks can do that my warrior can’t. This is especially true for things like mob manipulation. Pallys have a ranged silence, DKs have grip, etc.
I just feel like warriors need more tools. Am I just looking at the grass is greener on the other side or do other people feel warriors need some additional utility tools.
I don’t necessarily believe warriors need more tools, I think we need the freedom in build options for our talent so we can pickup our tools that are locked behind points we never path through any longer.
There is honestly too much focus on making offensive nodes in both the Class and Spec trees and not providing enough free points to backtrack and pickup utility that’s otherwise missed on the pathway through to getting the mandatory dps nodes.
For reference, M+ builds for all specs only really have 1 floater point, with slayer fury being the only build with 2 free points because Seismic Reverb isn’t as good for them as every other build of all hero talents. So you have next to zero chance of picking up utility due to this, let alone that all three specs have all 11 talent points locked to dps nodes in the 3rd rung of the class tree.
Honestly what needs if the class tree is not reshuffled, at a minimum both Crushing Force and Reinforced Plates need to go to 1 point nodes to allow for a 3-4 point freedom in the 1st and 2nd tree sections so we are able to pickup utility otherwise missed in these sections, which has become even worse since our stamina node moved to this second section due to their poor adjustment of talent investment per node.
Ideally a full rework of the class tree would be in order and providing some additional utilities for each spec to be able to pickup, some examples would be Disrupting shout moving to the class tree, but being protection only, with Arms/Fury getting access to a debuffing shout that reduces damage taken from the target that only effects their party at a medium length cooldown, the addition of an enrage steal for all specs which would provide unique moments of power around enrages applied by mobs just like mages have with spellsteal.
Maybe the addition of a physical version of Spell Reflect, name it Retaliation, Reversal or Counter Attack, where you reduce the damage of the next physical attack taken but then counter with a portion of the damage taken. Something like this would also solidify some unique gameplay with Warriors being able to turn the tide of battle in their favour while also providing some interesting additions to PvP.
