I’m looking for advices as I am a returning players (havent played since Legion). First of all, my interest is always in caster and prefer ranged combat. So, Mage and Warlock are the best match for me. I remember liking the Warlock more because it’s sturdier and thus more forgiving.
I’m far from the best players. I have a hard time handling too many abilities and rotation/priorities that are too complex are no fun for me. I understand this means I will not be the best, and will not be invited for endgame (it’s ok, I can live with that). I dont plan to PvP at all, so it’s all PvE, and I’ll probably solo quite a bit so I dont slow down others. I liked doing random dungeons though, so, I only want to be “good enough” to not be kicked.
Do you guys think either would be a better match? Any suggestion or advices would be much appreciated

Both warlocks and mages have been streamlined in this expansion, and both are quite easy to pick up right away. However, for solo play that doesn’t require too much effort, Warlock is definitely superior to mages, as you have really easy-to-understand survivability mechanics and can opt for fewer buttons to press in general. Mages are much more mobile, and have less baggage when it comes to trying to move out mechanics, but they’re a tad bit higher skill cap for players who don’t want to min/max specific class mechanics. If you choose to try out Mage, Frost Mage is definitely one of the easiest specs in the game to play, and it’s pretty fun!
I will warn you though, if you’re interested in solo play, be it delves or open world, the voidwalker isn’t what it used to be; Instead, I would suggest you pick up demonology where your felguard can definitely tank much better than your voidwalker.
Warlock survivability isn’t what it once was, but most classes nowadays are fine in the open world.
I enjoy the game play and utility mages have over warlocks. I like casters/ranged and try them all but always end up back at my mage. Currently I’m mostly playing mage, shadow priest, warlock.
It’s the cheesy response but I’d recommend playing mage and warlock.
As someone who got a bit overwhelmed with enhancement shaman, I found warlock to be much more comfy in pve.
Demo and Destro are both way easier.
Demo and Destro Warlocks are fine (and fun!), but if you want a simple class to get back into WoW then you really can’t go past Hunter.
