I know we still got some time left but from the current state of the beta and what you have seen so far do you think War Within is ready for launch?
Personally, I think that the launch is a little too soon, but I also believe that they’ve made remarkable strides in getting the beta ready for launch.
I’m still seeing far too many lua error’s so hopefully those can be ironed out before live. It’s been a week since I was last on, but there were also two dungeons that had clipping/disconnecting issues idk if those were resolved. (City of threads, and Dawnbreaker)
ps resto druid feels really weak compared to resto shaman. But that could just be the meta.
I think it is far more along at this point than either SL or DF (the last 2 betas I took part in). It does have a way to go but there is still a lot of time left - especially since they are not messing around with borrowed power.
HAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No
No it isn’t
Not even close.
They need to nerf arcane hard. Had one doing around 4.5 million dps in a stonevault a few minutes ago. Also give rogues jesus because they need it.
Tell the rogue to spec sub, perma tricks the mage, problem solved.
- Balancing still to be done - probably just before and after launch…
- Levelling working ok - though the last patch introduced new lua errors and bugs in previously working quests. Seems this always happens in betas where either the linking of things to be patched gets confused or small changes cause other bugs.
- Warbound conversion might be messy - that will be a prepatch drama.
- Most of the endgame events aren’t tested that much. I remember the dragonflight events (grand hunts, the cooking event etc.) in some cases needed a rework after launch. There are 3-4 similar type events in TWW.
- There’s a few mini-bugs in dungeons that won’t be too difficult to sort.
- The world quests are typically not that interesting and there seems to be a problem getting credit for some.
- Profession systems are still a work in progress. Most of the professions don’t need gazillions of resources now though inscription could do with some more tuning.
- There’s a few bugs in some of the delves. Each delve has 3 possible variations - and sometimes one of the variations is bugged or seems much harder.
This is actually pretty good with still 7ish weeks until launch.
Not if they keep releasing patches like they did this past week on beta not even close. And to top it off they let it ride an entire week with all the bugs and disconnects and didnt try to hotfix anything. So ready? No even close
When looking at technology it is a clear “no”.
The beta client is hard crashing far to often, on my test system where retail is super stable. Memory consumption could be an issue, in the game min requirement is still 8GB RAM.
Transition to/from dungeons and delves regularly leads to disconnects or client crashes.
Also I still see many LUA errors coming from the Blizzard provided standard addons (several UI elements are implemented as LUA, see the Interface/Addons folder and the “addons” starting with “Blizzard_”).
They don’t hotfix beta builds. Why would they when a new one is coming the next week?
If next week’s build were to fix all the problems you have with this build, would you say it’s ready to go?
There’s people who’ve done betas before who know the drill and people who think any small bug means its a tragedy in waiting. Small things like LUA on map or a quest suddenly not working due to phasing or some mounts causing game crashes are usually trivial to fix.
Things that remain problematic for some time often cause persistent problems. The fourth quest in the first zone that rewards skyriding looks like it could be one of those under the pressure of the two launch days. Climbing quests were persistently buggy for most of dragonflight and the side quest climbing quest in ringing deeps shows the same fragility. I’m not anticipating a problem… this beta is in way better shape for the time before launch than was the case for shadowlands and wod.
Depends on your class.
If you’re a DH, no, it’s not ready. Not by far.
Last patch brought with it quite a few crashes, we can still fall thru the world and some important quests are still bugged IIRC.
Also I can’t speak for all classes but I know Hunter still is not ready. A lot of work was done on SV but it’s not done cooking I hope. MM needs more help as well. Now they are known for going live with broken classes/specs though, just see SV last expansion…
Also all three Hunter Hero talents have gotten Zero iterations/changes. Apparently they left the rework/design stage for hero talents going into Beta but hunters are a bit perplexed because Pack leader does not work at all and is 100% passive and has zero visual effects. Dark ranger is also bugged and very poorly designed and the visual effects are lacking. Sentinel is working as they intended I think but there seems to be a lot of miscontent around it since it has absolutely nothing “Sentinel-y” about it…
So to answer your question? No, it’s far from ready to go live, far from it! And from a Hunter standpoint I expect a few more vital changes to MM and SV, the Hunter community is very strongly voicing miscontent and wish for a change to how pets work (pick the pet, not the pet specialization) and our Hero talent trees all three need a lot of work for Hunter to be ready to go live.
Will they do much more work before live though? Only time will tell. But if I was Blizzard I would enter sprint-mode and get as much work as done possible before the pre-patch and launch, because the game needs it.
Still some serious unfixed bugs with account wide stuff - not ready.
You 100% sure there is one this coming week? Unless you have a magic crystal ball there is no guarantee this will happen we could ride this POS patch for a whole another week
I’m not Nostradamus, but averaged out, we’ve had a new build every week in Beta. Not every Tuesday perhaps, but every week far as I can tell. Why would they stop now?
Just playing the odds after this bad patch I guess
Was is it about this particular build that’s “so bad” versus all the other ones? We’ve had disconnects each build, LUA errors each build, characters falling through the world each build, I don’t see why this one stands out in your mind so much more than the others.
I’d say everything considered it’s on track.
No, no its not. Speaking from just the classes, numerous specs still need substantial edits that blizz wont do bc they are already in the tuning stage of things.
There is a dungeon and other instanced content that is not disability friendly.
They are still requiring pathfinder for flying.
Etc…
Just like blizz to rush things.
