Do you think she’s a villain like Cartel Ve says (and not who she seems) or are the Cartel the ones who are lying?
I think she’s a leader of the merchant afterlife and she’s on the run due to Jailer influenced shenanigans.
shrug
Define “bad.”
I’m sure she screwed them over somehow, but screwing over a cartel is hardly a moral failing.
I mean I’m sure both sides are morally gray at least.
But Ve’brax telling me “she’s not who she seems” makes me think there’s a chance she’s not a broker at all but something more sinister.
She is likely a spy from another cosmic deity sent to sabotage the jailer or someone that screwed the other cartles and is seeking some artifact that can buy her redemption to them.
I think we should take her at her word when she says we shouldn’t trust her. She even at our first interaction, all but affirmed what the Cartel implicated her in. So yeah don’t trust her, but also don’t trust the Cartel. As a murderhobo know we’ve worked with worse people, but that doesn’t mean much. She’s likely no saint and so long as our contract remains mutual with each other. Let’s leave it at that.
When it’s gotten to the point that she’s using the Maw as a place to hide, yeah, I’m betting she’s done some bad things. That said, I don’t care. She’s probably my favorite new character so far.
The way I see it the enemy of my enemy (Jailer) is my friend and the enemy with a bounty of the spooky mafia in the White Tower of Death Lands is also my friend so she’s my best friends
Sure she is currently “Ambivalent” about me, but she just says that for banter
We are best friends
My money is on Venari being once the Opulence of Cartel Ve and she is why the Helm of Domination and Frostmourne got to reality and in the hands of the Dreadlords and KJ.
The other day I was so consumed with doing Ve’nari dailies that I didn’t notice the Jailer hated me as much as possible. I managed to port back to her refuge before his death stacks got too high. Once you get that high, it cancels all non-quest Ve’nari reputation gains. Jerk got in the way of me becoming friends with Ve.
With some of the background chatter in Oribos, the other Brokers seem a little more than gray.
It makes me inclined to reserve judgement for both sides. All I can really say is that Ve’nari has helped us out when we needed it. Nefarious ends? Maybe. But I don’t think we have enough to conclude one way or another.
I won’t be surprised if we later on do a heist with her and steal some of the best weapons of the Jailer and she sells it out while we get only 5 gold. Truly evil
Pretty sure this is just the Brokers’ way;
never trustful and always expecting a double-cross, even from their own.
It’s possible Ve’nari did double-cross them so those fears are justified, but even Ve’nari doesn’t trust easily and even tells you the same thing of the Runecarver…
Sounds like most things we’ve done for less. Remember Zul’Aman? We kill Zul’jin for the loot. Murdered and committed genocide on an entire nation that did nothing to us for gold… not even that. We didn’t didn’t get much back in the day. How many murlocs? Gnolls? Etc have we murdered? How many innocent civilians have we destroyed for being in the way? Think of our revamp attack on Zul’Gurub you can enter people’s home who promptly try to defend themselves, mind you, innocent civilians who are aligned with the Zandalari we murdered wholesale. Why? Cause they had a few coins in their pockets.
I can bet that Ven’ari isn’t as bad as others we’ve helped then later betrayed. Just keep the context in the relationship we have with her and decide whether we can ever be truly friends with a person like her. She’s like catwoman expect a betrayal at some point.
She probably ratted out a cartel in exchange for power/resources.
Bwon says the brokers are up to something, so I’m inclined to think none of them can be trusted. Venari will probably betray us for a handful of rare pocket lint and the other brokers are probably tied to something bad like they’re the reason the Arbiter was shutdown.
I still trust Venari more than the other brokers, purely because she was nice enough to tell me she had a backstabbing knife and how to avoid her using it on me.
I think she does bring up a good point in one of her dialogue boxes about how the two of you really shouldn’t be trusting each other, but she’s already given you a show of good faith by giving you her most important secret of all - the location of her hiding place that’s kept her alive this entire time. Hypothetically, if your character was ever to be captured and interrogated, Ven’ari is screwed.
So it’s in her best interest to 1) keep you alive, and 2) keep you dependent on her so you can’t betray her first. But at least she’s upfront about not wanting to be your friend or ally so it’s not like you weren’t warned - you just don’t have much choice, and neither does she.
Or so she says, at least.
Indeed. They are all pretty shady, and his warning seems genuine. Venari may be the one Broker who currently has interests that align most closely with ours, but that doesn’t make any one in the situation good.
I am sure she is not stupid enough to tell us her best or only hiding place. And if she says it is, that would be more to burnish a cart load of BS. To garner our trust. But even sharing one of her hideouts is enough.
I am getting Kairoz flashbacks. I feel like I am helping the next crisis unfold. I guess that’s what we do.
I think Blizzard doesn’t know Ve’nari’s story yet, they’re just a story hook into future cosmic expansions. The Brokers don’t seem to belong to the Shadowlands, but broke in anyway, and they excel at jumping accross planes of reality, I guess. They’ll be useful in expansions with the Void and Light and Arcane realms etc, and they’re just a piece in that puzzle to be used.
Ive been wondering if the Ve cartel was the one that smuggled the Helm of Domination and Frostmourne out and handed it off to the Dreadlords.
Ve’nari was perhaps head of the cartel when the deal was first proposed and balked at it, so she was deposed by someone a bit greedier for the power being offered in soon-to-come the ‘new order’. She went into exile in the Maw to mess up the Jailer’s plans in her own weird way, using her best weapon: Us idiots.
She seems to be a BIG THORN in Zovval’s side, and he is quite eager to find her and stop her meddling.
From what I gather, Ve’nari definitely acts as the sort of shady dealer and broker. She finds great worth in the Maw’s secrets. Whether she’s a target of the Jailor, or has caused plenty of concern by the other Cartels of her own people. My suspect is that Ve’nari is purely interested in her own endeavors.
