Is Velens vision still relevant?

His vision of The Army of Light all of Azeroth united facing the Shadow.

Was this simply fulfilled in Legion, or has the events of this vision yet to unfold?

Look, this vision was clearly how WoW was suppose to “end”. With everyone uniting against this “great shadow” which one would assume would be the void.

Now the story has changed and even an in universe knowledge of Velen’s power means what he sees are “possibilities” and not necessarily the final outcome. There is also new lore about how the light only sees “one path” while the void shows a 1000 truths when in fact it is probably only though combining both that one can find the “truth”.

It was placed so far into the future that it’ll always be a hypothetical thing that we never directly see, I think.

This also appears to be referenced on the Draenei page on this website.

The immortal Prophet Velen believes that a great war between the darkness and the light is fast approaching and that Azeroth will be its principal battleground. He stands bravely beside his allies to ensure Azeroth is ready when the time comes.

It seems possible that this vision could still happen, and that they’re currently actively setting the stage for this vision to happen.

100% not happening, fortunately

It would appear to be up for debate. Not sure if it is hard canon or something to be forgotten.

I mean, if it involves an older Anduin, that can put it 1000 years in the future, or next expac.

Turalyon has lived many Human lifetimes by being Lightforged. On the other hand, Khadgar was aged by Medivh, and appears much older than he is.

Anything could happen to Anduin to make this event occur a thousand years from now if he somehow lives a long time like Turalyon, or it can happen next expac if he is magically aged, like Khadgar.

And since he is hanging out doing his own thing, who knows how or when he will come back.

Thankfully not! The last thing we needed was High King Anduin assuming total control of the entire world.

Yet to unfold. In the Anduin themed comic Son of the Wolf it ends with a glimpse of the future where Anduin is old. Anduin says, there is only one more battle to fight, Light vs Shadow. He looks old, it says many many years later [post Legion] it seems Light vs Shadow is the final expansion.

My theory is that Anduin will come back from the Maw prematurely aged, and this scene will happen in the next expac or the one after it.

Same. I think that’s the reason they left Anduin in the Maw for an expansion. They did too much to push the idea that time works differently and that if you send too much time in the Shadowlands you could come back to your body being just bones.

It reminds me of Khadgar, which is why I compared them.

We got that little glimpse of Anduin wanting to be a normal young man, in Before the Storm. Which reminds me of Khadgar lamenting that he didn’t get to live the life of a young man.

What better way to increase the pathos, as well as shedding his “boy king” image, than to give Anduin the Khadgar treatment. And if Anduin is going to be some sort of Unifaction leader… Khadgar seems to be tolerated by the Horde.

Why does everyone assume its Anduin??? My interpretation is a human in armor, NOT necessarily Anduin was going to lead the light. My theory was it was going to be Turaylon. That it was not a vision of about Anduin and simply him triggering said vision.

Hell, for all we know it could be Anduin’s future kid.

lol, I can’t even post a link to a wow product on their own site…

IIRC it’s the last couple of frames.

Yes I know about that comic but that is even more reason to doubt Anduin is the guy in the armor. Old Anduin feels like he can barely stand let alone wear a full plate of armor.

That was Legion… we’re LOOONG past that story now. We’re a Teldrassil away from that story.

For all we know the Player Character is the guy in the armor!

Nope, because this particular line is suppose to represent all the player characters:

And suddenly the dark sky above erupted with the combined chivalry of Azeroth’s races. The blood elves, orcs, trolls, tauren, and even the accursed undead and scheming goblins rode flying mounts of every sort and description. They were armored and armed in magical weaponry glowing with so much power it hurt Velen’s eyes to look at them. Beside the legions of the Horde, the ancient night elves charged with humans, dwarves, and gnomes, whose ancestors formed the original Alliance, and the shape-changing worgen were united with them. Velen’s own draenei bolstered the army,

Edit: maybe said warrior can just be the player character. It would be an interesting twist.

He wasn’t prematurely aged the last time we saw him, not even after what the Jailer did to him (to the point his hair regained its original color), but it could happen.

Honestly Blizz probably forgot about it.

Given the fact there’s been hints of zealotry in the light & whatnot (Xera with Illidan, and the alternate universe Draenor stuff) – It’s a bit sketchy whether or not the light will remain all good & pure.

Personally, I’m 100% certain there’ll be handfuls of light enemies or a light-aligned faction we’ll have to fight against in the future.

It’s untrustworthy lore since the idea could be scrapped with the excuse being that the vision was just a perspective of an unreliable narrator
