Will Torghast be required for anything other than crafting legendaries?
I work full time, have a wife and new puppy. I can’t sit down for 2+ hours a day just to farm soul ash from 3 layers. I only play a few hours during the weekdays, and my interest is pvp, so I don’t wanna spam torghast when I do get to play.
Just curious if I’ll need to focus on it for anything other than my legendary, or once I craft the one I want, I can move along to what I’m interested in.

If you want a legendary, yeah
Which is kind of a big deal for raiding or PVP
Get another person or 2, torghast is a 45 minute endeavor in my experience per layer. You just gotta optimize your play.

God forbid an MMO having a slight time commitment.

Once you get to t3 in each area, you only need to do t3 each week for the majority of your Soul Ash. It’s like 40 minutes each week. It’s not bad at all.
I get the hassle though. If I let my puppy alone for 40 minutes he’ll probably piss on the floor and dance in his poop.

No it’s not mandatory, leave the Jailer’s forces alone so Sylvanas can continue her grand mission please.

Slight? Hahahaha. This expansion is a black hole if you want to be competitive.

Not concerned about time commitment. I’m worried about not getting to do what I want to do in an MMO because I’m forced to do something I don’t want to do.

Unless you are chasing after Cutting Edge, it most definitely isn’t mandatory. It’s also not as much of a big deal as others in this thread are making it out to be. For the time being they are a nice plus and nothing more; personally, I’ll be waiting on them to improve the tuning before running it, as it’s just too tedious and RNG dependent for my Warrior.

I would suggest doing research on the best Lego for you and then just do Torghast long enough to acquire and upgrade the one Legendary…then stop running Torghast.
Not trying to be snarky at all but if you can only play a couple hours a week an MMO might be a poor choice of game to be competative at PvP. Something like Overwatch would likely work better for you.
I ran a layer 3 last night and completed it in about an hour solo which awarded all my Soul Ash for that wing for the entire week.

At least some of the covenant quest lines require Torghast runs. It seems likely that in future patches it will also be involved in some way. They seem to want to force people to play it, one way or another, because they spent time developing it.

It’s the devs/writers way of torturing the players for all the excessive complaints. lol
And they are laughing at us over it.

Going off your schedule, you’re probably like me and don’t do a lot (or any) real raiding.
If that’s the case, then no… I don’t think so. I think you can mostly skip it if you want.

No. And if you are patient, you don’t even need to do Torghast to craft legendaries as some replies state, as slowly but surely you will gain enough soul ash from follower missions and other eventual catchup mechanics to craft one… but as for how long this will take, who knows at this point. but my best guess would be a 2-3 months to craft your base level legendary 170 or 190.
I’m not worried about “being competitive”. I just want to be able to perform without getting trashed by the no life who spent 25 hours a day in Torghast(yes, I meant to say 25).
I enjoy pvp in WoW, even if it’s broken or w/e. Plus, friends play this game, so I’m not really concerned with how high my rating can go. Just wanting to do pvp with friends.

I’ll do it to craft the legendary. But, beyond that, I am not interested in it.
That’s cool. I think you should look into Torghast a bit more. Spending more time in Torghast wont get you anything…Soul Ash is capped at a weekly acquisition. You run 2x layer 3s a week at approximately 1 hour a shot maybe a bit more or less depending on the class and thats all you can get for soul ash…done.
A “slight” time commitment? The entire game devours time like it’s nothing. It’s not just torghast that takes time lol. You have one grind followed by another all requires time. Now you don’t have to do anything that’s true, just like you don’t have to log in and play the game - which is also true.
