Is Titanforging in the next Xpac

i miss retail havnt played since like the first month of BFA, this is the first Xpac i havnt actually played, there are many problems i have with the game now adays but the 1 problem that makes it so i just cant enjoy the game is Titanforging.

i was wondering if there has been any word on if this mechanic will change at all next Xpac since that will pretty much determine if i try the next Xpac or not

Not just titanforging, but the entirety of RNG gear makes me cringe. it’s REALLY unsatisfying and grind-y. I know they’ve done it to up weekly return rates, since getting what you want is a toss up. I really, really miss gear sets, being able to earn tokens and buy exactly what you want felt SO good back in BC/WOTLK, and now it’s all instant, in-your-bag RNG bull$hit.

Yes they will just change the name.

Titanforging is the old level of rnging…EMBRACE GODFORGING next xpac!!

More than likely, yes.

I think they said something about removing a little bit of the rng by 8.3, although i’m not sure.

Excerpt from the dev preview:

also, as we’re seeing assaults by the minions of N’zoth on Titan Forges around the world, we have to wonder, is it possible that these assaults on Titan Forges might somehow change the nature of Titanforging? This is something that we are discussing and we are working on a plan that we are working to roll out in the very near future but we’re excited about the idea of embracing the Old God threat, this time around, to replace Titanforging with something a bit different, with something a bit more twisted and corrupt, that also ideally works to preserve the value of item level and the correlation between doing difficult content and getting the best rewards.

That last line is what gets me thinking there’s a chance that it won’t affect ilvl as much. However some speculate it may be replaced with certain affixes instead which muddies the waters. I’d rather see the whole thing removed personally.

Both ends of the spectrum are unsatisfying and grindy.

Too much RNG is painful and makes running content feel unrewarding if you’re not lucky, and can lead to burnout in WoW due to the lack of lockout on Mythic+ encouraging dedicated players to spam nonstop until they get what they want.

OTOH, a total lack of RNG ala FFXIV or Cata WoW non-raider endgame sucks the relevance out of content itself. You don’t run those dungeons because the dungeons contain anything you want, you don’t run them because they’re appropriate for your power level – No, you run them because you get an arbitrary queue bonus at the end that you can buy BiS gear with. The game devolves into spamming entry-level content endlessly and it’s stupid.

I think a middle ground is totally possible, though.

The way they handle the Mythic+ currency in BfA is honestly a good foundation. It’s a means of earning currency appropriate to the content you’re running. If they expanded THAT form of currency vendor to fill the role the crappy currency vendors from back in the day did, it’d be much better.

Titanforging is being changed, not removed.

From the sounds of it, it’s being changed to something that’s not RNG based, and the components required only drop from high end content.

it looks like they are changing it before the next expansion in 8.3.

So it bothered you so much that gear rewards were rng-based that you quit playing at the beginning of BfA. Legion rng-based gear rewards were okay?

But you play classic, where everyone’s gameplay is based on random procs.

Like, I just missed 4 finishing moves, so I’ll auto-attack until this mob dies of old age.

Seeing as how the expac hasn’t even been announced. No.
