edit: I’d actually asked my friends this same question yesterday. My boyfriend told me he heard stories about Cata launch where entire characters got wiped, random characters vanishing in the void, stuck underground, and “Stonetalon 0,0 horrors”, whatever that one means. Sounds pretty bad!

This isn’t the worst. It’s up there on the levels of hilarious incompetence, but certainly not the worst. That title goes to WoD.

The launch was fine, it’s the. “fixes” during maintenance that’s breaking things right now.
I can’t even log in and when I was able to, I’d get stuck checking the auction house or my Warbank.

But based on years experience and previous xpac launch exp, HELL YES its called FAILING UPWARDS.
clearly op wasnt there for WoD. my guild at the time had to reschedule our guild events because that massive failure of a launch day, took like a month to get our routine back in order

As somebody who has been here since 2004, it’s not anywhere close to the worst. Even setting aside WoD, there was a lot of crap that they got away with in the early days of WoW.
It’s mostly just embarrassing that after this much time they’re still not willing to put in the resources needed to make it work better.

There was one expansion launch, I forget which one, but like. 1 wheel came off every single server rack. Every one!
People were falling off boats and zeppelins. People fishing fell in the water and got wet socks. I mean the list goes on and on.

I think the real issue is this isn’t that far from what a lot of us expected. We said beta was buggy, this was messed up, that needed fixed and people shot down those posts with “it won’t be bad, the last 4 expansion releases have been smooth as butter.”

You can Thank Remix for never ending restart delays let’s not forget that some people were warning that Blizz bit off more than they could chew running that silly remix thing whilst preparing an xpac. All of this now is unsurprising.
it feels like a mini-xpack.
small zones close to each other, very fast quests all done in ~2sessions.

Between the early access, nerfing dungeons, multiple KP/AA exploits that won’t get reversed making some early exploiters basically beat the entire expansion already, and now the servers crashing constantly for 3 days now …yes.
Right? Blizz is a laughing stock. Not that they are any better, but I am surprised MS hasn’t stepped into their offices and asked them WTF are they doing!
