trying to settle something. got into it with someone saying this is the fairest PvP xpac we’ve had compared to previous expansions.
If you mean the worst PvP gearing expansion and least fairest. Sorry but SL has been the worst for player participation due to unfair gearing and lack of gear. That is why everyone is waiting till next expansion when it changes.
Right now most BG players are using party sync to avoid max level PvP because it’s so lop sided. PvP is better and way more fun in lower brackets. Right now PvP is a hotmess.
Thank you. exactly proving my point!
fairest in terms of what? if we’re talking balancing, every class has at least 1 viable spec which wasn’t always the case.
in terms of gearing, it’s not completely fair unless you’re above 2.1k rated.
9.1.5 had the most balanced healing meta in the entirety of the game. Outside of a few things that were nerfed 9.2, 9.1.5 was probably the most balanced meta outside of templates in legion.
Probably the most unfair tbh terrible and i mean TERRIBLE class balance, to many cheesy 1 shot gimicks as well that require little to no setup or skill, ilvl gated behind rating, conduit ilvl, legendary ilvl that requires gold (not all players are good at making gold and/or can buy wow tokens) the list could go on forever. SL is the worst xpac of all time
With the most recent balance notes I think we’re at a place where the majority of people would agree that acceptable balance between classes within the arena is almost achieved. Perfect? No. But acceptable.
Blizzard just needs to figure out how to do this 2 years earlier at the beginning of an expansion and not the last few months of one which has been the trend for the last few. Though I’d argue we were getting pretty close before they unleashed doubles leggos and set bonuses in pvp.
I just jumped over from TBC to shadowlands today…
Decided to try some BG’s, (Shuffles for the first time) skirmish and such…
(I agree, crap gear)
I never stood a chance as a casual…
Nothing I did made any impact- in fact I was deleted with one shots and cc’d to death in seconds …
As a causal I fully admit I should be at a disadvantage for not having earned enough gear yet but to have NO CHANCE…
TBC I could if played well enough out play a season 3-4 character in pve gear but it would be VERY hard but doable …
Not in shadowlands, wow it shocked me how bad the state of pvp is on retail today…
Not true at all.
I tried leveling my tbc mage and got from level 59 to 60, but kept getting owned by other players only a couple levels higher than me.
On retail I could easily stand a chance but on tbc nope no way
Talking gear…not levels…
You just made my point for me…
I would never expect someone many levels above me, not to delete me in pvp…
Nerf rogue
Funny enough it was a rogue making the argument that SL is the fairest PvP has ever been!
I also lose to people levels below me with worse gear in tbc
Very very not balanced compared to retail
depends how you see balance, but its hard to see a spec right now and say “yeah this thing is just way too horrible to compete”.
This is screaming “give me attention”. You need to work harder for it.
If we are talking in a sense of each spec is playable then yes I would say it’s “fair”. Each spec can probably be used and succeed especially with a good comp.
Now if you want to argue “fair” AND fun then I would say no. Lot of unfun things from some of the 1 shots, to the CC, and also pacing. If the game was made less spiky and more consistent you would probably think it is more “fair” and fun.
it was a long argument but ill try to put it into shorter terms.
pretty much I said the whole upgrade system locked behind rank is unfair solely for the fact boosters can use it to their advantage by intentionally dropping rating and curb stomping lower ranks due to gear difference to which they said that wasn’t the case at all and that gearing is as fair as its ever been because it’s essentially a 2v1 so the other team should win.
That take in particular is fried but regardless of what this forum may think absolutely NO ONE is held back from a rating threshold due to gear.
^ no one is held back that’s certainly true but at the same time it makes the barrier to entry harder
“Did x class obliterate me because of gear or skill” becomes a difficult answer to question (for newer players who might have more difficulty identifying mistakes)
Idk I started pvping in shadowlands but I also don’t really use lfg past 1800 so maybe having voice comms is that powerful.
I usually hit 1800-1950 before I even have honor for challenger gear.
