I’m trying to do this quest that wants me to do an Emerald Frenzy. I get about half way through it then it just cuts me off. Is there a time limit on these things I’m not aware of?
Yes, there is a timer, and if it expires before you get to 100 dewdrops, you miss out on the reward. But AFAIR, the reward is pretty negligible (like a single blue seed). And you keep the dewdrops you have looted thus far.
I run with a lot of quality-of-life addons so it’s hard to know if this is standard, but when I hover the mouse over the Frenzy icon on the map, the tooltip says how much time remains in that particular event.

Emerald Frenzy only lasts for 10 minutes or less.

I think you’re right.
Specifically, the event lasts 10 minutes from its start. Unless you’re psychic or lucky, you’re not going to be in the (randomly-selected?) area at the very start, and the timer begins to tick down from the instance the event spawns, so you have 10 minutes or less (probably less) to collect the 100 dewdrops.
It usually takes me about 3 minutes, and I’m a casual scrub, so it’s probably not a problem if you get there late, as long as you don’t get there too late.
Also, don’t forget to loot your kills–that’s how you collect the dewdrops. Sometimes I kill a bunch of mobs and wonder why I’m not progressing…
