Is this really what you intended?

I’m sure there are many threads on this, but I’m too lazy to search for them.

The level of disappointment is reaching heights I’m not sure I can take anymore. Just went through H Darkshore on my warlock. Got the H quest reward first. 460 Gloves…22% upgrade woot!! Then got the normal reward…400 staff. A Staff!!! Why always 400 never 460?!! And I check out my gloves…and I’m wearing 430’s with rank 2 Twilight Devastation. So no upgrade. A 30 ilvl difference and its not an upgrade. Heavy sigh.

Its like they got together and said “So they complain about Titanforging? Lets show them something they can really complain about!” and give us this corruption system. So now you never know what’s an upgrade or not. Now you have bags full of gear you are scared to scrap, because of the various and sundry levels of corruption and what can I wear or not wear, how to I handle how much corruption, can I suffer through the little dude chasing me all the time or…or…or…omg.

Was it your intention to make us all suffer this much? Did you want to see just how much abuse we can take before we all just quit? (Creaky old grandpa voice) I’ve been here since 2004…and I’m getting close. Frighteningly close. So, I’ll tell you what I think you want to hear…

Please bring back Titanforging. We’re really really sorry we complained. We had no idea just how bad it would get so could you please just bring it back?

nice logic.

going against progression system

a 380 piece better than a 470 because it has a r3 meta corruption.

Brilliant for sure.

It sounds like you might need to take a break for a while.

They gave up, I mean look at this most recent final raid boss. He is the easiest of the four with some of the most basic mechanics barring Mythic difficulty. G’huun, Jaina, and Queen Azshara were quite a challenge on Heroic; it took a lot of wiping and vantus runes for us to take them down. N’zoth Heroic on the other hand was a cakewalk, couple wipes to learn his patterns then BAM easy kill.

Edit: Unless its LFR.

I agree, I like corruption too.

At first, I thought it was just a fun bonus. I’d get a decent upgrade and it came with some bonus stats or something. Now that I’ve got a pile of corrupted gear, it’s pretty cool. By just swapping out a ring and a pair of gloves, I can choose between 10k in single-target or AoE DPS. That gives me some pretty useful flexibility.

Accept that you don’t need to have the very best of everything and you’ll be a lot happier in life.

– until someone willfully conceived of and created something much worse and then made it the thing you had to get or get left behind.

That’s a bit excessive but 30 is fine, if ilvl is always what you go for might as well be the only stat, and that’s boring AF

Actually, I like it better this way.

Truthfully, the old system was bland and stale. This is like old style P & P dungeoneering. You never knew what you were going to get, and sometimes the GM would be crafty and put random effects on stuff to throw your game off.

Not sure why everything needs to be so LINEAR for people.

No how about neither. Or back top mop forging when you could upgrade it yourself.

Going from terrible to really bad isn’t what we should be asking for. We should be asking to go to good.

ilvl not being automatically BiS is fine.

That’s not what corruption is.

Corruption throws ilvl in the trash can almost entirely, because like 80% of corruptions do not scale with it, and the impact is so big that ilvl can’t make up the difference. Even massive ilvl gaps can’t.

It would be one thing if you chose to lose 10 ilvl to use a corruption more favorable to the content you’re running. Say, you drop your 475 Infinite Stars gloves to use your 465 TwiDev Rank 2 gloves for an M+ dungeon.

That would be a case of having to think about your gear a bit to be optimal.

But an ilvl 415 piece with T3 TwiDev should NOT outclass an ilvl 475 piece with a poor corruption or no corruption. ilvl should mean SOMETHING, and right now in many cases it means nothing, with the exception of getting the exact same type and rank of corruption on the same slot at a higher ilvl, in which case you get minor gains from the passive stats, compared to the massive gain of getting that corruption in the first place, that you already had.

You are misunderstanding the purpose of corruption on low ilvl gear from casual sources like world quests, normal dungeons, and emissaries.

It’s not for raiders and other elite players to have access to more corrupted gear to farm for a lucky drop. It’s to encourage low ilvl alts and new players to get the cloak so they can cleanse the bagful of corrupted gear they can’t currently use.

Here is an idea. How about you get a piece of gear and thats it. No titanforging, no random sockets, no 3rd stats, etc. Then have other methods in game to upgrade a piece of gear (kinda like the socket from wrathion).

I actually have to agree with this, being able to create the set bonus i want and then hunting for it has been fun. Granted i would like a little more ability to choose the bonus somehow or not to have to destroy SO MANY pieces because of RNG and the sheer number of bonuses there are, but i still find the system to be fun and enjoyable.

Was i disappointed i didn’t get an upgrade with my 460 weapon because i was using a 455 with a very nice proc on it that i want, yes. But it wasn’t the end of the world, there is always the next drop. And i honestly think THAT is what they are going for. Throw loot at you and let you pick up what you want to use and recycle all else.

Nah, titanforging was garbage.

Corrupted gear is just a bigger pile of garbage that seems to be both sprouting tentacles and being on fire.

The deal is, we can only hope Blizzard removes both next expansion.
