Is this normal?

Hi, I did a few of the portal event this week (maybe like 5 times total) and I got all the things there were to get.

However, I did the Halloween event hard mode for Arfus, multiple times per day, every day, and still didn’t get Arfus (the only thing I wanted).

I’m just wondering how normal this is and if there may be a better way?

Rng is rng, sometimes you get everything you want quickly, other times it takes 5ever for it to drop what you want.

Arfus and the HH mount manuscript definitely have a lower drop rate than sarge. Even before the sarge drop rate git buffed. After the buff the sarge drop rate is more like 50%.

That being said, all the collectibles from the event seem to have a much higher drop rate than anything from the revamped HH event. The only exception to this seems to be the new 36 slot bag which has the lowest drop rate of all the events items.

As for “is there a better way?”. Yes, there is a better way. Using a vendor to sell some of the harder to get items for a currency. But blizz refuses to ever do that.

They really borked up the drop rate of this pet. They should never put pets on events with a low drop rate.

But that’s what I’m saying. I got the bag, and all the other items, with extreme ease/without even trying. Meanwhile I read about people doing the event 100 times and not getting whatever it is they truly want. I just feel like there has to be a better way? I am a super dedicated pet collector. Not getting Arfus after spending so much time/effort/energy on specifically getting Arfus, it’s so demoralizing. Then I get a bag I don’t even care about, while someone is doing the portal for the 100th time still trying for their bag. Same with how people would do HH once and be like haha, got Arfus!

I feel like there must be a better way for these things. Maybe a bad luck protection system, or something.

There is. Blizz could have put everything on a vendor, had Hearthstone card currency be a thing that we earn from playing tables and killing the boss. Then we could’ve bought stuff.

The same should have been done with Arfus and he should have been on a vendor.

Low droprate RNG for short term holidays/events is bad game design.

This should be done for everything during limited time events.

Wowhead just put up an article about these bad drop rates during limited time events.

Sadly, it is normal. There are still players who run the Love Is In The Air dungeon multiple times a day, every single day of the event & have done so for YEARS but still do not have the Love Rocket mount. RNG is a… well, you know.

From personal experience, I’d say more like 75-80%. They buffed the wrong item, to be sure.

A real use for all those stupid Wild Cards??? What a novel idea! Seriously, Blizz should hire you, you have some great ideas, Sendryn.

that dog… I got him on the very last day with my last toon right before the event ended. Am I happy, sure, but the stress and boredom euhgh.
And yeah, this time the droprates were much better, aaaannnnd I like the idea about the cards, it always gave what you didn’t have, no replica c.ap. Basically, the game rewarded me for my time WHICH it should be like this all the time, maybe most of the time…

No it really isn’t normal. The Halloween event is what you should expect.

The Hearthstone event is a one time thing. It isn’t coming back next year. They set and adjusted the drop rates to make sure everyone should be able to get everything.

Sounds kinda on point. I got like 3-4 Sarges and still havenʻt gotten the bag on a couple of characters

the drop rates on things were real easy this event

Except that’s not happening. Myself and numerous others have mentioned that the Stolen HS Cards are no longer dropping and the bag drop rate is absolutely ABHORRENT.

At least we can sell our overabundance of Sarge pets though, unlike all the little demon goat pets.

Rng is a fickle mistress. I got the bag on my first run of the event. Got the rest of the items within 20 total runs.

Meanwhile I have extra Arfus sitting in my bank hoping I’ll be able to sell them some day.

Hearthstone event probably has a higher drop rate cause we wont get another for at least 5 years when it hits its 15 year anniversary or even longer if it makes it to its 20th.

Holiday events happen every year and while arfus’ drop rate was way to low they know we get a chance every year so they probably dont feel like it has to be that common.

This happened to me with the valentines day event. Never got anything.

Very normal. I think some characters might be linked to a higher ability to get certain drops, while other drops are almost impossible for that character. I have had success trying on other characters when this seems to be the case.

Low drop rates are bad in general. I have no idea what the drop rate on Arfus even is but according to wowhead it’s 1.2% but it could be way off. As for the current event the rewards are clearly quite common since I got all of them very quickly.

I have thought about this before and think there may be something to it (but of course nearly impossible to prove)
