As I get it, it just, do moskito dmg while baiting poeple with fear cast till you reach 15 stack. Then you get 4 soul shards then infernal + mal + double chaos bolt.
Either you win over that go or you’ve lost.

Preferably get 5 shards with 13-14 stacks of ritual of ruin
Drop infernal, malevolence, launch chaos bolt, tigger ritual and fire off 2 more, followed by a soulfire proc if you’re lucky, and then shadow burn with the soulfire shard
Outside of this big go you can definitely toss out bolts, but they’re not going to be nearly as effective unless you maybe coordinate them with your teammates go. But ideally they should be using CDs along with your infernal/ritual combo.
Outside of those windows try to act as support. Disrupt the enemy’s kill windows, cc healer, double coil etc.
TL;DR Yes, your job is to do mid to low damage and then suddenly launch massive damage quickly when everything lines up.
Infernal is not a requirement. Ever since the cool down reduction talent was removed, a 2-min burst cd is too easy to negate. Just like the old avenging wrath or Dragon’s rage, if it is a patterned burst then most ppl will just dance around pillars. You can set up by a well placed shadow fury or a double coil. Neither is easy in this melee/huntard meta, though.
