I noticed this too must be recent. I had some crappy 20s long warlock dot on me and couldnt cap or bandage myself either. 15-25 second dots are brutal now.
I wish you could atleast bandage if you got a shield up and arent taking direct health ticks

No the BG community has a pretty big resentment for Arena ruining PvP in the game. They hate Esports and how sadly because of that PvP was balanced around this mini-game. No one cares about Esports or Arena they just want good PvP.
I’m not saying that to be overly rude to Arena players they like what they like. It’s just sad that Arena ruined PvP for everyone else. Which is Blizzards fault. There is already a smaller PvP player base compared too PvE and they divided it.
Most PvP players are doing WPvP, Epic BGs and BGs/Brawls. They want nothing to do with Rated content or that format. Mainly due to this resentment over years. Most PvPers would love nothing more for Arena as a format and Esports to be removed from the game. Since we believe that is the key for PvP to improve.
It’s possible both can exist but PvPers really just want good objective based PvP and WPvP.
I’m not sure if there has been much done since Legion but typically Arena makes up around 10% of the PvP player base. Just like PvP makes up about 10% of the player base. Most PvPers don’t step foot into Arena unless forced in there for gear/conquest.
So we all know it’s a PvE game and around 10% of players are PvPers, then of that 10% of PvPers they play Arena. So if Arena wants participation they need to take from the much larger active PvP playerbase that enjoys BGs. It’s just not many want a death-match format. It’s not interesting in an MMO. (the format should be reworked)
It will bring in more players. PvE players at the core are objective based players (that like to grind) so that transitions too objective based PvP where you can also grind Honor and levels. PvE players aren’t going to Que Arena there is no point too. There is a point in doing Brawls, BGs, Epics, WPvP or RBG Blitz. There is incentive and something in line with what they do enjoy.
Everything falls off in a couple months. RBGB will be a staple content for a lot of players, but I predict after season one people who enjoy kill gaming will mostly return to RSS and RBGB will mostly be people who enjoy more casual PVP.
But due to sheer accessibility it will be a popular game mode.
Most of my btags (that I actually talk to) are looking forward to BGB because they’re burnt out on arena, but also most of them are going to go where the fastest rating is. So if BGB is a slow climb, I suspect they’ll still be doing arena.
I’ve asked a ton of casuals and they don’t care about rated PvP. Casuals tend to be people with families and don’t care much for rated. They won’t be very interested in RBGB because they don’t care about getting good and thus don’t care about playing a mode that test your skills. Any people who play RBGB are already active in the rated aspect of the game and after seeing how weird and wacky RBGBs are (they’re prob already aware of how poor of quality RBGs are) they will play it less.
It’ll be more active than RBGs that isn’t saying much tho. Those died a long time ago.
