I’ll never understand people like that. Does the fool understand that even if they kick…the kicked person can still get loot?
You have to realize that these kind of power trips are why people play this game.
His boss probably talks to him that way.
Cause why not, I checked this out.
https ://www.britannica.com/topic/race-human
I went into it thinking the whole notion of “race” is a bit silly, and I feel somewhat vindicated lol.
By this definition, racism and xenophobia largely seem to be one and the same. Ultimately, you just don’t like stuff that isn’t like you.
We’re all one race, or species. We’re human. But we’re different because we have different brains and different upbringings, and upbringings and influences will vary by geography, socioeconomic status, hell, even our parents, and just a whole lotta other stuff.
I think to really understand racism, you gotta know what a “race” is. IMO, we’re all one race, and this is verified biologically.
Very touchy subject, but yeah. Tried to keep it tame
Demanding someone to be kicked is justified.
Chat is reportable.
(And if people are kicked, they don’t get loot.)
You could kick the dps, then kick the tank before the boss dies.
True. Racism and Xenophobia is different.
My guess is however … that they aren’t in this case.
Excuse me when I say this but I have spent enough times reading old articles discussing human rights in newspapers that I can safely say this much: there’s functionally no difference between Xenophobia and Racism, not from layman people. There is a technical difference, as the one you linked to me demonstrates, but its usefulness is limited effectively only to scientific articles discussing the difference. Because that technicality doesn’t serve any purpose however because of the “no true Scotsman fallacy”.
Because ALL Xenophobes will eventually make use of it that someone isn’t “enough” of whatever metric they want to use. So no, there’s functionally no difference between them as they are both rooted in simply a fear of the unknown, but depending on how subtle or explicit the person is they’ll blame it on different things.
Do you ever have any good takes? Or do you just get on here to antagonize people?
I’ve spent a lot of time defusing situations in M+. All it does is cause me grief, and I wouldn’t set that as an obligation for anyone. I just do it because it’s how I am.
He’s too busy throwing his toxic masculinity around. I wouldn’t pay him much mind.
It absolutely does.
“If you encounter behavior in chat that demonstrates malicious intent to sabotage the run of your Mythic+ group, you can report the player by using the right-click option in-game.” -
I think Americans are simply far more familiar with “racism” than “xenophobia” because a cursory bit of research on xenophobia might lead you to believe it’s a matter of simply belonging to another country.
In Europe, which is roughly the size of the US, there are multiple different countries. US is one country, but racism obviously has infamous history here as referring to varying skin colors.
I’d largely say they’re the same thing. Americans are just more familiar with the concept of “racism” cause we’re one big ol country
That’s not actionable though or many people would be banned.
Idk what’s going on in your life that causes you to behave like a Vitamin D deficient basement dweller, but I sure hope it gets better for you.
Honestly I was like ok is this really such a big deal?
But then the guy launched into such gross explicit insults and I was like “Ok what are the odds he’ll actually calm down if I tell him to? Or what are the odds he’ll just insult me too?”
So I just kicked him and bricked my key.
Keep the tank, kick the dps, then kick the tank when the boss is about to die.
Get loot and make people angry all at once.
It is always best to kick and ignore if someone is being that toxic in a group setting. Giving them any sort of reaction is giving them exactly what they want, that being the attention.
Bans aren’t instant. They have to do it multiple times and be punished multiple times.
But that requires players reporting them instead of ignoring and blowing it off.
Trust me, they’re not going to ban people for abandoning keys.
Tons of groups fall apart, it’s natural when people do challenging content.
What do you mean its not actionable? By whom, Blizzard? I assure you, Blizzard can take just about any action they want to in response to a report. If they feel that the action reported “demonstrates malicious intent” then they will take action, though the reporting player will never know the extent of it. We don’t know how many people are punished, because they don’t tell us.
Truly a marvel at how I can meet wonderful people in this game and those who are completely unhinged within a single session.
Guess that’s life in general, but holy crow.
Sometimes they will, sometimes they won’t. Generally depends on how big of an ego they have, and whether or not you notice early enough.
I don’t see a ton of extreme cases like this, but tbh I think you did right by the group. At worst I’d say you guys probably could’ve just finished w/o a tank but I don’t know what kind of stats you were rocking.
Honestly, if someone is sabotaging your key like that, the better option is actually to report them for those comments.
The punishment for awful comments like that will be much harsher than sabotaging a group.
If someone is sabotaging my gameplay, and they then say something horrible, I’m almost glad cause then I actually have a smoking gun.
Sometimes, terrible behavior is a win. They give you the tools to get action taken
