Is this considered Gameplay Sabotage?

So I ran a +3 Ruby Life Pools.

Nothing special, but we’re chugging along. Well one guy accidentally pulled the dragon we were trying to skip (the fire proto drake mini boss).

Anyway tank has himself a fit and starts saying it’s because the guy is from Azralon and how anyone from Azralon/Ragnaros always messes things up and don’t ever invite them.

He starts talking in chat and eventually starts calling the guy names. Not just little names like “idiot” no, he went into full on derogatory sexually explicit insults, and then starts whispering me telling me to kick him (I was party leader).

I ignored because we were on the last boss and I figured we could hold it together for one more pull and just kill the boss.

Anyway this tank then says if I don’t kick this guy he’s been yelling at, he’s not pulling. He’s going to sit here until I do as he says…

Is this gameplay sabotage? To hold a group hostage like that?

I realize pugging comes with risks of course, but the dude was unhinged. Saying the grossest things, and going on about how all Ragnaros/Aztalon players are bad (probably because he assumes they don’t speak English). Mind you the guy he was angry at spoke perfect English, he just wasn’t paying attention and pulled the dragon. It wasn’t that big of a deal.

Oh we reported for the horrendous things he said. I was just curious if it also falls under sabotage too

I’ve never had my key held hostage like that. And I’m honestly kind of stunned the guy got SO MAD over something so small

Maybe, but I think that’s the least gross thing about the whole story. You have the whispers so I guess you could report it for that too.

I was under the impression you can only chat report for one thing, and then they hide all their chats, but maybe they changed that?

No it still hides it all. Once I reported him the whispers were gone

Toss the tank on ignore. It may be sabotage, but it is definitely the behavior of a self important prick that doesn’t deserve to be a tank.

If you are going to skip a boss in a M+, communicate it. Don’t assume everyone can read minds.

He did tell everyone we were going to skip. The guy who pulled just didn’t move up enough to avoid pulling the dragon when it came back and landed.

Then the tank lost his mind

This is racism first of all. So… you already have something more significant there.

Yes.

You can see this type of thing in other avenues of the game like BGs and it is generally speaking ruled that if someone is actively attempting to threaten people by coercion that it is gameplay sabotage.

I’d still report 'em first and foremost for the other stuff and just explain the other things in the actual report. As that might elevate the actual consequences higher.

there’s a chance this guy was ‘‘griefing’’ the run before this moment and you didn’t notice, probably the tank was already angry and then he just lost it

and I dont think he lost the loot by getting kicked, u could just have said that to the tank and keep going

This is completely irrelevant. One person’s mistakes, intentional or not, doesn’t excuse another person’s behaviours.

This is probably the most ridiculous thing one could take from this. Ever.

How the hell do you blame OP for “not defusing the situation” as a victimized bystander?

Because he is the “leader” of the group, go google what leader means.

Also the tank whispered him, he could of easily told him to chill.

Victim of what? words? of someone leaving his party he was leading?

Yes, this is sabotage.

You didn’t ask, but, when this happens in my keys, I immediately leave. It’s extremely unlikely that players like this are going to suddenly have a change of heart and continue playing normally. I don’t want to give trolls like this the satisfaction of holding up a key and upsetting people. They’re just itching for people to say “Come on man, we need you! We can’t do this key without you!! Please please!!”

You were right to report and it’s likely he’ll get a swift mute/suspension for racist comments.

Okay two things, first the tank is a major D-bag and I would avoid him in the future at all costs but……. There’s a crazy W in here.

I would kick the other person after whispering them, “hey sorry tank won’t pull I have to kick you but you still get loot.”

Then let the tank think he won and after the dungeon is cleared say “hey you do realize the guy we kicked still gets credit for doing this dungeon right? So you actually did extra work for him still feel like you won?”

The tank was griefing, so I’d report him for that instead.
