Is this a nerfed version of Classic?

I was expecting a challenge walking from Valley of Trials to Ogrimmar.
Back in the day I did that walk several times and I always expected to die 3 or 4 times, now I have walked without dying not even once …what happened to mobs aggro? is the game design as a “theme park” ?
I guess it is just in easy mode.
Or maybe is not as hard as we ever thought.

Its because Vanilla was easy mode.

Get yourself checked for dementia, it was always a walk in the park.

It never was as hard as people thought.
Just time consuming.

EQ walking from Qeynos to Freeport was almost a death sentence. Wow was never really scary in comparision for me. Not in the slightest.

Maybe you are a more experience player now?

Back in the day, did you ever notice the road leading from the Valley to Orgrimmar, or did you run to the side of the ravine covering said road?

Only thing that made it hard 15 years ago was nobody knew what they were doing. Also Vanilla was never meant to be “Hard”. Wow was actually considered by most other MMO players at the time the filty casual game when it first came out. The only real challenge of Vanilla compared to now is the speed it takes to level and put a group together.

If a person really wants a challenge should try playing a game like Everquest where you don’t dare try to solo anything your level without a group.

This is a nerfed version of Classic. In real Classic you didn’t have leveling guides and builds telling you exactly what to do. Due to 10+ years of private servers and data mining Classic 1.12 is a solved game. Not only are there guides detailing in excruciating detail exactly where to go and what to do, but exactly which quests to prioritize and at which levels to be as optimally geared as possible.

I think the horde may have had an easier leveling area because I never hear about any horde equivalent, Defias Pillagers, Hogger, or Stitches that they speak of. For example, a Defias Pillager hits you for about half your life even a level below you with a fireball, so you have to LoS or CC them if you want to avoid getting chunked lol.

dunno feels the same to me–painful and slow.

spawn rates seem higher, more kills…more xp

you probably just didn’t know what aggro range was back then and you played on a potato computer that couldn’t render a blade of grass or the plains tigers separately lol. At level 15 during the stress test I made it to AQ, I did die a lot though it took like 2.5 hours. Stormwindboy can back me up, he also went.

Yeah, when I started WoW at vanilla launch I came from playing FF11. And FF11 at that time was incredibly intense, WoW was super easy lol. Playing WoW classic now though is refreshing as it feels like games have gotten even easier since those days.

Certainly helps that there are tons of people killing every mob in sight within a few moments of it spawning. There’s a lot less traffic on the road out of the Valley than there was the first time I made that run.

The horde equivalent is the quillboars of death. Or the roaming centaur mobs. Happened to everyone, there’s a lotta death out there.

The game is just as easy as it was, the difference is now we have had over a decade of practice to get better at the game.

Those level 15 defias told my level 11 paladin that this wasn’t a game.

Sorry, but my Necro Solo’d a ton of AAs, kiting.(over 300) Bards and mages we’re pretty gud at kiting too.

Lvls 1-6 the mobs don’t hurt us much really. After that they start hitting much harder, try to pull 2-3 at once and not get below half or dead. Different classes also perform differently, so a clothy will feel the hit a lot more.
