Is this a good PvP RP server?

Does anyone know? I heard this was one of the best RP & PvP servers but I’m just curious. I think if you’re going to RP in world of WARcraft PvP should be essential. Who knows.

PVP is very much a low secondary pursuit on this server.

There is RPvP, the issue is that it’s relatively limited since organizing larger RPvP events is a tad bit of an issue.

From my experience in trying to organize it, the largest issue stems from the fact that the Alliance guilds who can field the bulk of the PvPers are, generally speaking, a relatively fractured group when it comes to each other (while outside this circle them interacting with others is normal as can be).

As such, RPvP if you find it on WrA is likely to be a sort of Guild vs Guild affair since it’s easier for the parties to manage.

RP-PvP is not prevalent here. Some people do it, and some people PvP outside of RP, but this isn’t a PvP-focused server by any stretch of the imagination.

Plenty of non-PvP RP though.

The best! The very best. I enjoy it a lot.

Most of the time when PvP is prevalent in RP, it’s decided through a series of rolls. Some people prefer to do actual duels, or leave PvP on, but rolling is typically the way most people keep it fair.

So like… ‘Good suh, I challenge thee to a DUEL!’ … and then like … ‘You, suh, will r-r-r-r-r-r-rue that remark! EN GARDE!’

Then a bunch of /roll 20 to see who hits who.

Is … Usually what happens.

As far as I understand it, Emerald Dream remains the best RP-PvP focused realm. Though I’ve never actually played on it.

As others have said above, it happens on WRA but if you’re looking for RP where EVERYONE PvPs it’s actually pretty rare. This server had its origins as an RP-PvE server and most players here tend to reflect that in one way or another.

There’s all sorts of reasons for that, a major one being you can actually choose to RP alts who you maybe haven’t put all your spare time into gearing, that sort of thing XD

I would like to understand your logic here.

Why does RP essentially need PVP?

Would you say the same for PVE in world of WARcraft?

Because some people have this weird concept that World of Warcraft always needs to be about the war between Horde and Alliance.

I have a lot of issues with that. Primarily because every expansion/game since Warcraft 3 had an underlying theme of: “We don’t like the other side, but we will work together if threats demand it.” I personally don’t like the take of “WARcraft needs a Horde vs. Alliance war”, but to each their own.

Why would you not hate the Alliance…? I mean… They are just so… allied.

Their coordination and general cordiality confuses and angers me! I was always made fun of for being a nerd, why aren’t these nerds!? Dang fallutin’ gen Zoomers!

Damn right! So mad! :rage:

Because Lions are cool, I suppose…?

There’s more neutral and cross-faction RP on this server than widespread RP-PVP. Might want to look on one of the RP-PVP servers instead. Not to say there aren’t RP-PVP events, but it’s a niche thing and not at the forefront of most guilds or events. I think most people (including myself) hop into a BG if they’re in the mood for PVP.

Wra actively hates pvpers

I don’t hate PVP, I just don’t want to mix it with RP. They are two very different ways of enjoying the game, with different rules, goals, and pace.

It reminds me of this actual sport they play in Europe where two competitors play chess for a few minutes then get into a boxing ring and punch each other for a round, then go back to the chess, and back and forth.

Its fine that some folks enjoy that, but I don’t think its fair to say chess is “essential” to boxing or vice versa, despite both being about combat.

Roleplayers will PvP if, and only if the laws of having a sick transmog demands it. Nothing less.

The Starwater Coven engages in a lot of WPVP on WRA. But I can honestly say, we rarely see actual guild groups out and about PVP’ing horde side other than ourselves. Usually just a horde player here and there.

From observation, RP-PVP rarely if ever actually works. Its not to say it cant be done (im in a RP-PVP guild) but I have come to learn that most definitions of RP-PVP are VERY different from each other.
