Is there something I need to "turn on" in order to see public crafting orders?

I have 5 characters who spend quite a bit of time with professions. I have literally never seen a public crafting order. Ever. Do you need to be max level in your profession? Is there some other prerequisite that I might not be aware of?

Nope, there are generally just no public crafting orders available because there are far more crafters trying to do them than people making public orders. You just need to check very regularly until you get lucky and catch one that was just posted.

The only orders that stay up for any length of time are for very rare recipes that most crafters don’t have (for example, enchanting on my server usually has an order or two up for Illusion: Primal Mastery because very few people have the recipe)

you kind of “have” to add each and every recipe you want to ‘favorites’ so that you dont have to keep clicking each one to check status… lol.

but, even then, it depends on profession i guess.

never seen a thing in enchanting, inscription is all 1g-50g treatise requests (that somehow get filled anyway)
so i guess you’re not missing much

you can just click the ‘search’ button without typing anything and the window will show you ALL public orders open for your profession (including ones you can’t craft). Clicking again will refresh the window every time, useful for reset day looking for juicy commissions from fresh vaults!

Essentially this. The public order UI doesn’t seem to populate without clicking the ‘search’ button first. It might some of the time, but it doesn’t often enough that you’ll want to just hit the button by default. It’s great.

Well for pity’s sake… that changes everything! I had no idea that was necessary. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s no way to eliminate the ones you can’t craft? I’d love to weed those out.

You literally just uncheck “Show Unlearned” in the filter box

It literally does not have an “unlearned” option. There’s “uncollected only”, “usable only”, “upgrades only” & then the rarity list. If anyone knows another way please lmk & ty

That’s at the NPC where you place the crafting order lmao. You search for orders to craft at your crafting table, which has a different interface.

Since getting the primal illusion pattern, I must have crafted 20+ of those as orders and that is how I leveled enchanting from ~80 to 100. Pretty much the only enchanting crafting orders I have ever seen. On my LW, I probably crafted ~10 different things as orders including five or so lassos. For JC, it is almost all lariats that I’m seeing, hardly ever anything else.

From what I have seen, the crafting table remembers the page you had last open during your current character’s session and will only auto-populate if you happen to re-open the table on the orders page.

I don’t get why people don’t use them more. For example, I use crafting orders for all my expedition shovels. I get them for 50g commission + mats, some of which I already have and save 40 or 50g over AH price of 120g. And, bonus, someone gets an order for their weekly and doesn’t have to cancel -repost to sell. win-win.

I was able to make a handful of Signets of the Titanic Insight (ring), which was perfect since I optimized my JC to make those for all of my characters.

Now if my my tailor would see some orders…

Might have something to do with 5-charges shovels being available from the expedition outpost without bothering with AH or crafting.

Those cost supplies, rather than gold which is easier to get.

I have 12k supplies screaming “burn me while I am still relevant” whereas there is always something else that can be done with gold.

Serious dirt farmers are going to want the BS shovels because shovels don’t stack and you run out of bag space very quick if you are trying to carry 100 charges as well as hold all the dozens of random items the dirt gives you.

If all you do is hit 3 or 4 dirts till you get your weekly knowledge items then of course the 5-charge ones are fine.

There’s always the bag space bonus. 1 crafted shovel saves you 3 slots for the same number of faction shovels.

I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks! Sounds so simple, you would think they would auto populate the list.

That sums my thoughts exactly. I’m very glad i asked the question.
