Is there some motivation/reason for DDOSing Blizzard servers?

Genuinely curious about this. Is there some gold dupe or something that can happen when a ddos occurs?

Is this just antisocial losers who get off on ruining other peoples’ fun?

The second option

BC had its new raid open, so gotta DDOS

because people are “protesting” past wow people who did bad things. when all that does is make them look better

Honestly, before the announcement came out, I had been talking to someone and I essentially said “You know? I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a DDOS attack. We haven’t had one of those in a while and it seems like we’re due for one.”

Go figure.

Just the normal, biweekly server crash while blaming DDOS. Blizzard gets “DDOSed” more than apparently any other company on planet earth.

I am guessing you are being a bit sarcastic or something. The attack last night hit most of the Blizzard games, not just WoW. It was not one “server” or data center. The pipeline in was overwhelmed with DDOS traffic.

It sucks. A lot. Why people do it I can never understand. Blizz had nothing new going on really that was interesting. It may not even have been Blizz that was hit - if they hit a major ISP/backbone just outside Blizz that would do it too.

There are people, and also other countries, who just want to watch the internet burn (in specific places if possible).

I didn’t say anything about WoW, now did I?

Sure there is.

Ya because the 13 minute wait to go onto bnet was server crashing

What does that have to do with anything? Rofl

algerian script kiddies

I know in Osrs its possible to crash servers and if you do alot of trading n whatnot just before said crashes happen, it can happen that you’ve now got the traded items on both characters. Its possible the same could be happening with wow. That or just some very spiteful people who hate blizzard wanting to get back at them for…iunno. Removing booba or something.

Understandable.

Blizz needs to hire them so maybe they can help them not get Ddosed?!

Yeah man, fruit bowls got the internet actin all kinda crazy. We may be dealing with some joker tier villains because of those fruit bowls.

pretty sure half of those DDOSes are actually just unforeseen networking problems but saying its was DDOS might bring sympathy.

it just happens too often without strategic timing for me to believe it everytime heh

DDoS attacks usually last several hours. It’s silly that they claim they’re being DDoS’d every time the servers go down for 30 mins.

People ddos for the same reason they scam call other people. They’re bored, pathetic and have nothing better to do with their time.
