just curious, since i've played aion before. i initially liked that game because it's pretty much one of the only mmorpgs where your char can have wings (and fly), but i left because i kind of got tired of it. but is it true that it's supposed to make some kind of comeback?... and better yet, is it supposed to be a 'wow killer"?
If it didn't kill it the first time, I've not got a lot of faith it will the second time.
Third time's the charm?
I'm not sure which cliche to use here.

Every MMO released in the last 15 years has been a WOW killer. Very few of them are still in existance and none have reached the sales, income, or popularity that WOW had.
The only thing that will kill WOW is WOW.

Pretty sure it was billed as a "WoW killer" when it originally launched. I think this was the one that even took shots directly at WoW in their marketing; "You're not in Azeroth anymore".
Blizzard is the only WoW killer that will ever succeed.

The only place you ever hear anyone mention ‘wow killer’ anymore is here on the WoW forums. Everyone else knows it won’t happen. They have all settled for trying to make money and or a successful game.
Any AAA mmo that comes out now would be a wow killer. We need new blood.
I'd be thrilled if there was an Aion reboot just because of how fun the flight was, especially with the PvP area being almost entirely small, floating islands.

I hated it. Im bad enough at pvp on the ground, I don’t need to be constantly falling to my death as well! :p
WILDSTAR 2 WILL KILL WOW
It did 'relaunch' and apparently it's stupid easy to get to max level now so you can into end game content after about 7-10 hrs of questing from level 1.
I actually enjoyed Aion a lot too, but it hasn't aged too gracefully. It's still fun, but definitely wouldn't consider it a 'wow killer'. Even given WoW's current state.

Kind of. MMOs in general don’t quite have the audience they once did. There aren’t many new players coming to them, and so every new release is all trying to get their slice of a shrinking pie.

that was Rift, and we see it went F2P pretty quickly.
Didnt Aion come out a couple years before WoW and have a terrible launch and first year or so? i seem to remember them dropping the ball hard while i was playing Asheron's Call.
Edit: nm, i think that was Anarchy Online, not Aion that i was thinking.... too many mmo's have come and gone in my years.

AON has limits on your flight times. Try Revelation Online it's lots of fun. You can glide right away and fly at 29. It's pretty awesome. Good main story, fun quests, interesting classes, good combat. And very pretty and nice music. FtP, they do have a cash shop but cosmetic items and stuff like that.
Most of the wow killers are dead themselves and wow goes on.
I liked aion in theory . I liked the wings, the story and the combat. It was hard solo and lvl, however It was all pvp and unless you were always in a decent sized group you were constantly being killed and camped.

It is sort of funny. MMOs are dying as more and more games put mmo features into their games.
The Aion reboot did little to improve the game IMO. If anything it only seems to have streamlined aspects of the game that needed little streamlining and removed a great deal of content. Many of the things that keep me from playing Aion are still there.
Every MMO besides WoW that's came out since 2004 people have been claiming is the next WoW killer
The only thing that can kill WoW is itself

I really hope they get some fresh new blood. Some updates.
More races? More graphics? A leveling revamp? Anything would be a positive IMO.
