Today after doing the daily Beta on my tank I hopped into the group finder on Normal Heroics to see if I could help any groups out and Tank for them.
There were 4 people in LFG for Normal Heroics.
4 people.
How do people even gear up or do a lot of the content?
Even I took a break for about a month, came back and I feel super behind.

And you’ll forever be behind… But there’s still hope.
- Join a guild and pray they are willing to gear you up… They probably won’t but there’s a chance.
- Farm gold and buy all the BOE you can get a hope it’s enough to get you into Heroic+ or Heroic++ runs
- Buy gold and join a GDKP run, then bid to win something that’ll be ninja’d anyway
- Spend forever trying to craft your own gear
Normal Dungeons and Heroic Dungeons have been dead for a long time, and nothing (outside of the three letters people hate around here) is going to revive them.

Personally I don’t really play other characters but I was asked to get a second level 80 for the guild (it really should’ve been my 3rd) because we’re now running 3 raids specifically for TotGC so doing TotGC 10/25m geared my Druid up pretty quick.
But on the topic of normal heroics, I think that no one will want to run them or at least the majority of people have no reason to run them. Beta heroics drop Alpha and normal heroic loot iirc so there’s literally no reason not to do beta heroics simply because the gear is just that much better for not much effort.
Then there’s the issue of people skipping bosses that one might need but that should be solved by asking if they can do it. I needed to do Eck in Gundrak for the trinket (Eye of the Broodmother), I asked if we could do it and the group was fine it was only a small detour off of the normal route and to top it all off I got the trinket.
If people don’t want to do skippable bosses then there’s the silver lining that is the sidereal essence system because even if you don’t get to do the boss you’d want at least you get something that works towards an upgrade for you.
i never understood these posts . wotlk started 8 months ago , the community that wants to play wotlk is going strong doing end game which fulfills it’s original purpose . why would there be a mid game ?

If I were to make a new character, I’d just go straight to ToGC 10H with crafted and BoE gear.

So there is no room for new players without PVP gear or buying gold?
How is that healthy for the game in the end?

They don’t. Unless they get lucky and get into a beta group willing to carry them
Not that the content isn’t there to help bridge the gap, it’s just the people already on the other side don’t want to help new people across

there are tons of gdkp & ticket runs
so people can swipe their credit card and buy gear
this reminds me of the meta of Mage boosting where players could never find groups for any low level dungeon even at mega servers since everyone was buying dungeon boots while leveling or getting boosted by a friend.
Yet people leveled by buying gold to buy leveling boosts & that’s why blizzard add shop boost when they realized how massive the boost buying is
and after blizz realized the massive of gdkp/tickets industry they decided to sell tokens.

Sad to see that this is the consensus amoung players.

Seems somewhat ignorant but ill explain.
Because new players and alts are the backbone of the game.

The only practical way is PvP if you want to gear alts to pre-raid for present tier.

Because without a mid game there’s nothing to replace the people who burn out or leave.

- Buy 10-20 WoW tokens
- Join a GDKP
I don’t play Wrath but I hear this is pretty much the meta.

not really , classic wow exists for nostalgia reasons not to bring new players . it fulfilled its purpose. it’s kind of naive to believe different

It doesn’t matter, even people who missed the initial rush have an incredible hard time getting into it now.
There’s nothing to fill the ranks of those who quit and the game feels like it.

that’s what i am saying if you cared for this iteration of wow you are already playing with the initial crowd. let’s be honest here . the original crowd who desired vanilla classic , is probably still playing vanilla classic and they are not in wotlk or in this forum
When you are put in an environment where as a fresh 80 you learn really fast how to get up to par with the other players. You either do some bgs to farm some pvp gear or you save up some gold and buy some gear off the AH. There’s nothing holding you back but yourself. People feel like regular heroics are pointless to do and that’s understandable. So why even bother queuing up for them? You might say, “because I want gear so I can do H+” well, no one is queuing those either. So what else do you do? You do what the rest of us are doing and try to get your way into H++, but there are gatekeepers keeping you from doing them.
Well, where there is a will there’s a way and the one thing that sucks. If you do a regular heroic. You’re locked out from that dungeon on H+ and H++. I could be wrong, but that’s usually what my lock out ID shows me.
