Mega server isn’t necessarily a derogatory term. If it’s a mega server then it’s a mega server. Why does calling it what it is make it derogatory?
My server is far from a ghost town. We have an awesome community without all the problems of a mega server. The difference is my server is the size of a vanilla server. The supply can actually meet the demand. There’s not 10k people on a server meant for 5k.
HFP which is tuned for 58’s in bad gear is a complete gear reset that will quickly bring you up to par with MC/ZG/AQ20 gear. And by 70 everything including NAxx gear is pretty much replaced.
There is a community of people requesting fresh, non-boosted servers. I realize you said classic was not really your favorite content - and without friends, I would happen to agree.
Though the leveling would be faster due to the XP change mechanics and quest increased xp. Additionally, each faction would have all classes, and the TBC talents would be in play making some of the classes dramatically different, such as paladins and druids.
Anyway, you might consider supporting the fresh server initiative. Otherwise, boosting and playing catchup will be your only choice. There may some “new” servers as well depending on the population surge caused by TBC launch. Who knows?
There are a handful of pieces of t3 well really level 60 raid gear that are decent into level 70 content. The vast majority is replaced and all of it very early into level 70 content.
Immediately at 70? No. But Naxx gear lacks stats, particularly stamina so level 70 gear often gives about the same level of dps stats (crit, hit, etc.) but also more stats. Some pieces still hold their own in raids dps wise.
Tbh, the gear doesn’t matter. The gold issue, while problematic, is less bad than people make it out to be. Just play the game at your own pace it’s 15 years old no need to stress over it.
