Every expansion, there are many people on the forums constantly whining about the game, whether it be about world quests, “time gating”, “welfare epics”…etc. and so many more comments.
I have been playing since late BC/early WOTLK, and while I do generally take off 5-6 months every expansion, I still have fun, every expansion. I still enjoy the story, and my characters, every expansion. Granted, I am not a raider, etc…I just level alts, get my “welfare epics” through World Quests, grind reputations to max, and RP…but still…It’s amazing to see so many complaints when I’m having so much fun.
I’ve enjoyed all of it until SL. Even then I was okay for awhile. When I didn’t like the Maw or TC I just went off and did other stuff, took a break, came back and just…no. First time I’ve ever complained.
I haven’t played much of Cata to BfA so my expectations for SL couldn’t be drawn against the previous expansions. All my problems in game have to do with the end game faction imbalance which have nothing to do with the actual game itself but just rolling with the punches for now. IDK maybe tune KT and Sylvie as the most difficult solo challenges in my case.
Everyone has their own definition of “fun”. Some are competitive, want to do only certain things ingame but have to do the rest in which they have no interest to just be competitive in what they do want to do.
That breeds resentment. When that happens, they look around, see how wq’s can give good gear, weapons and that’s where you get the “welfare epics” nonsense from.
Partly, anyway.
Ignore all of the unnecessary complaints. It’s fairly easy to figure out if they’re legit or not.
That’s my only suggestion. If the game didn’t still have “fun” in it, there wouldn’t be anyone here.
Yep, that would be really good. The excessive time gating nonsense is very defeating.
I didn’t start til after 6 months or more of release because of this.
The forums consist of a very small percentage of the playerbase… ~5%.
Combine that with the fact that people are ten times more likely to leave negative feedback, and what you have is a vocal minority of people that have many complaints about the game, but isn’t necessarily reflective in the game’s entire population.
Most people just log in and have fun until they eventually stop having fun and unsubscribe. This whole “I UNSUBBED A YEAR AGO NOW IM JUST HERE TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE I BOUGHT A 5 YEAR SUBSCRIPTION” isn’t really the standard.
As someone who raids, does rated pvp and runs high level keystones, I also feel these sentiments. There’s a lot wrong with the game and you don’t have to go far out of your way to see it, but at the end of the day I log on to have a good time, not to make weak excuses about my compulsive gaming habit
And the list goes on and on and on. No matter what you throw the dart at, you’ll land on something people will complain about lol. I’m sure there are people who have complained about the default run speed or the day/night cycle.
SL is fine, i finally get twink brackets at max level and facing the same people every night like how twink community brackets used to be, but now instant queues instead of 2 hours for a warsong
I actually don’t hate shadowlands. The expansion is fun and i like the cosmetics. I just hate what happened to random bgs. Also rip entire btags of people who quit
