I’ve gotten to the third zone, and I’ve had enough. I can’t take it anymore. This is The CW level writing. I don’t care. I don’t want it. I don’t want to have to sit through another feelings-in-caves segment.
Can I skip to the gameplay I like somehow?

I don’t think you have to do any of the campaign on alts. In Dalaran you can skip the intro and be ported to Dornogal which elects adventure mode. This way you can chose whichever zone you want. By 80 you should be able to go to any vendor, questgiver, etc.
You can also just level via crafting, pvp, dungeons, world quests, side quests, mob grinding, and so forth if you want.

So don’t read the quests or watch any cutscenes. Easy.

If that’s your first character, not really. Though, the campaign is very quick - a lot of the fluff has been moved to sidequests instead. If you’re not interested in the story, skipping dialogue and pushing only the main story should get you finished in an evening.
Then, on alts, you don’t need to touch the story since adventure mode will be unlocked.

I already started that and even turned off the voice audio, but the game apparently anticipated this and created a segment where I literally had to wait in a dark cave while Anduin cried like a baby for 15 minutes with no way to skip it, because the quest was to follow him.

Just wondering why you bought the expansion in first place.
Because everyone knew what the expansion was about , both theme and history, since months ago.

Warbands: your warband has completed the campaign, you can literally stand in Orgimmar and qeue for TWW dungeons without even talking to magni.
Just complete it on your main & youre done.

Won’t unlock a bunch of end game content then, you have to finish the campaign once
Lich King: You will be abandoned by the Light, just like it did mmmmeeeee. :c

Not that I thought the story was bad, thought it was pretty good honestly

lol faerin is helping him work thru his ptsd, hes not crying lol imagine if arthas had snapped out of being lich king in the middle of his rampage thru quel’thalas, found himself slaughtering women and children and then got forced back in to mind control. if he ever escaped like anduin did, he’d be so messed up

“I didn’t read any of the dialogue or text for the story, but I know it sucks” is an interesting hill to die on, tbh.
This is why I was really glad they moved the vast majority of the exposition and dialogue into the ‘stay a while and listen’ optional segments. People who wanted more story could get more - and it was actually pretty good - but if you don’t want it, you can just laser through 95% of the quests without even thinking about it.
Honestly, really smart way of catering to an audience who has grown accustomed to NOT paying attention to any story while also allowing those who are willing to sit and get exposited at for a bit the opportunity to get more story. Great middle ground, imo.

This is true! I’m just an Anduin hater tbh I don’t want to help him through anything. This sounds terrible to say out loud, too.

he’ll get better. not sure when, but its working itself out. faerin and thrall have both been significant. if he didnt have this development, people would complain that the peace nik boy king, sure got over his stint as the lich king quick

I didn’t start out that way. I started out watching every cutscene and actually reading each quest. I normally like story. This writing is so bad that I couldn’t take it anymore.
Warcraft has rarely had particularly good writing, but I normally like getting immersed in a world. This writing was of such an offensive level that I couldn’t take it anymore.
Imagine being so lazy you can’t even just tune out and ignore quest text and cutscenes

You have weird taste in writing. This is the best writing this game has had since Legion at least, probably since Wrath tbh.
They’re actually doing a pretty good job of expanding characters, giving them motivations that make sense, and having them have realisitc developments. But, I guess if ‘a person having emotions and having to deal with them’ is your bar for bad writing, ya, this is terrible.
