Title.
Basically, I hate the Maw and I especially hate this sorry excuse of a quest with a passion and would rather forego it if I could.
And while we are on the topic, this quest is flawed from a RP perspective. Isn’t it unsafe for murderhobos to be given this power to return souls? We aren’t the Arbiter or some moral judge. What if we have been returning souls that ACTUALLY BELONG in the Maw?
You really want to leave the ability to save or damn a soul to murderhobos who will do anything for loot and gold?

Murderhobos… HAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!! That is HILARIOUS! it perfectly describes all of us! We are just wandering hobos paid to kill everything in our path.
I’m going to steal that title!

I wish I could take credit for it, but it’s a very old community term to describe what our characters are. It’s fitting, IMO.

It gives 500 Anima if you’re capped on souls.

You get like 20 stygia per soul. So it’s nice to have the option to rescue them while you’re running around doing the other maw stuff. But if you don’t feel like grinding stygia then it’s probably not worth it.
Hmmm thanks all. I am not capped but I dont think I’ll be putting a concerted focus to doing it. Just not worth it to me. Good system for getting an extra bit of anima tho, I guess.

I see. I have a bunch of stygia that is unused so I doubt this will be the motivator.
Souls should be a farmable blue quest after renown 40 for as many as you want. Time in the maw is already limited daily. And the souls still affect your eye of the jailer bar.
At this point I usually avoid collecting souls as I realistically don’t need it as much as the anima or Stygia. They should at least immediately hotfix the jailers eye meter to not gain with souls…
Is this verified cause I only saw gold as the award for the weekly quest when I did it?
Only thing I can think of is reputation.
You have to heal maw’s woons champion!

Gold is the reward for the 1000 anima quest.
You get 500 anima for the souls quest, if you’re capped on souls.
I got like 1600 gold for the 1000 anima quest and 500 anima for the souls quest. Anecdotal but that’s all I have to offer.

Outside of Stygia…does the maw serve any real purpose?
If a soul is rescued in the Maw and no one cares; was it rescued at all?
Conduit upgrades and Sockets
Did you get the memo about the new coversheets on the all lost Souls reports: souls are needed to upgrade Covenants.
If you want to upgrade Covenant, you should do it.
If you do not want to upgrade Covenant, you should do it anyway.
Well, you need 20 Souls to upgrade the Covenant Perks to Level 3 and beyond.
You get 500 Anima from that quest if you have more than 100 souls.
500 Anima is good.

This is why the Shadowlands should have appointed a “deputy Arbiter.” As it stands, there is currently no absolute judge of morality, nor is there a system to establish who should become said judge.
So they’re pretty much at a loss at what to do. Why not you?
