From what I’ve felt, Blizzard is trying to separate themselves from old world lore. The lack of Archaeology in this expansion speaks volumes about that. Combined with how much they’ve been trying to separate themselves from Pandaria, I don’t think we’re going to see any lore involvement ever again.
And it sucks, because Pandaria and Monks had some pretty bangin’ lore.

I’m sure the inns have at least 4 new alcoholic drinks in them. Does that count? Seemed that was the thing Blizz wanted monks to be known for back in Legion.

Of course not Monk is Blizzards least favorite class they don’t care about them getting any lore or attention.

The Celestials should have lore with Ardenweald and finally, finally let Pandaren be Druids!
Since the Horde has been drafted to rescue and live out the revenge fantasies of a series of Alliance characters that threaten to kill us repeatedly, I don’t think there’s a lot of room for the monkish “balance” perspective in the storyline.
There’s no Horde/Alliance conflict. Or identity in Shadowlands.

I don’t agree with this at all. If they were truly trying to distance themselves from the past, then they wouldn’t have sprinkled in so many “ghosts” from the lore. As for Archeology, that was skipped purely because they didn’t want to take the time to implement it. I don’t want to call that laziness, but…
As for whether or not there will be any real monk lore - probably not. Blizzard doesn’t like monks.
They’re probably sucking up to MoP haters.
