Is there any benefit from specialization in Alchemy?

I read that it allows you to possibly create more pots for the price of 1 but are there any other benefits? Do you get additional recipes you normally wouldn’t get otherwise?

If you are talking about the alchemy specializations, you really want the Transmutation specialization. Older transmutes are really the only thing you are likely to make that have any use. Older potions, elixirs, and flasks are largely useless and the ones that aren’t can be easily made as the specializations apply to recipes before WoD.

I still make money with transmutes for almost every xpac.

Pots, Flasks, and Elixirs the alchemist makes last twice as long for personal use than they do for people who buy them. You can get a two hour buff as opposed to everyone else getting a one hour buff.

Major stat (agi, str, int) pots and elixirs sell well in every expansion. While leveling, you can get a high enough stat increase from them that it would correspond to having an extra gear slot for stats.

Players on RP servers will disagree heavily, considering that giant growth elixirs are a thing.

Lower level stuff generally commands pretty good prices. People leveling alts are willing to pay for any little thing to make the process go faster.

I said “largely” not “totally”. There are a few useful items. Either way though, Elixir of Giant Growth only requires an Earthroot and a Deviate Fish. Neither are hard to get in comparison to elemental items.
