I do a lot of mining to make gold and had a cool thought about having different mining pickaxes, but I wasn’t sure if that was already a thing so: Is there any other pickaxes I can use for mining to spice things up?

I think you can use a Vulpera to mine for you. Just burn up its caravan and it’ll have nowhere to go and it will start obeying your commands.

I think there’s a few fancy ones scattered out there. Pretty sure Legion profession quests got you one, and I think there might have been one on Argus too.
If you Google “WoW mining picks” there is a WoWpedia article about them.
I guess Seismic Bore from SoO is useable as a mining pick, that’s cool to know.
There are a few mining picks throughout the game. However, I don’t think the animation ever changes unlike fishing poles.
Yes, sometimes you can find weapons that double as profession tools.

We need gathering toys that replace animations. Goblin Dynamite to blow up a mining node for example.

A grabby thing to pick herbs! And also goblin dynamite to pick herbs! And goblin dynamite to skin animals! And goblin dynamite for fishing!
