Is there a worse WoW experience than playing an Alliance Feral Druid?

I’ve got a ton of alts, with at least one of every class at max level on Alliance, with a couple of Horde alts at max as well.

I’ve gotten all of the Mage Tower appearances for every spec/class, for reference, so I have SOME decent experience with all classes/specs, since WoD at least.

And I have to say, the absolute worst experience ever is playing an Alliance Feral Druid - particularly one with Inscription as well. Why does it suck?

Alliance faction, so due to faction imbalance and other reasons, you generally lose BGs, and WM absolutely sucks, and finding a decent Mythic raiding guild is hard to do, particularly on certain low-pop realms, it’s basically impossible.

Then there’s Ferals in general, who have absolutely been gutted beyond belief since the launch of BfA. In fact, the spec was so bad Blizzard had to do about 5 “hotfixes” post-launch to try and fix the spec, and inevitably resigned to saying “wait for Shadowlands” (which, the spec still looks like garbage in SL as literally everyone has pointed out, so I guess next-NEXT expansion will be OK?)

Of course, on top of that, Ferals will NEVER get invited to a Mythic+ if they don’t have a guild willing to carry them - and in some cases, I’ve even been rejected from guild runs because Ferals are that bad. No utility, go Boomkin or bust.

As a side note too, Inscription is absolutely garbage now - why did Blizzard change the interface to sort by expansion? Before, you could sort Glyphs by Class, making it extremely easy to make a ton for alts, or to casually work the AH. Now everything is sorted by expansion in alphabetical order. Are you insane, Blizz?

All of this being said, I’ve had TONS of enjoyment on all my other alts, of EVERY spec. There are a few that need some work done on them, certainly, but in my experience, nothing comes close to the horrible experience it is to play a Feral Druid.

And by the way, Blizzard, I remember BfA demo at Blizzcon - you gave us Mark of the Wild during the demo, promised to give buffs back to everyone, then come launch you made MotW a Resto-PvP only talent because “Druids have too much utility!”

You must have forgot Ferals when you made that statement.

So Blizzard, why the hell do you hate cats?

Love to see where this thread goes.

I am of the mindset that Blizz is giving Feral the Demo lock treatment. “We prefer if you didn’t play it”

I still hold out hope that Feral gets some utility to justifies a raid spot or even M+ spot but as it sits now … .balance or bust.

The worse class I played was my priest ,at the time she was dics. forgot when they nerfed the class but for along time i couldn’t play her no matter how hard i tried. I finally was able to get her up playing shadow .Now this again ,agh. back to disc.

If you think it sucks, then play something else. It really is as simply as that.

I think you missed the point, considering I DO play everything else. It’s surprising that you’re capable of proper grammar while not being able to read.

I’m confused. Your title states “alliance feral druid,” but then you proceed to rail about feral druids in general.

Why not just say “feral druids suck,” and leave it at this?

In every expansion there’s always been the redheaded step child class/spec. Feral druids have had their moment(s). Eventually, they’ll peak again and everyone will be complaining about the next “worst” class/spec.

If you have multiple alts, then why torture yourself in trying to continuously bang your head on a wall repeatedly? Einstein’s definition of insanity is applicable to this scenario.

At any rate … you do you. :man_shrugging:

I just have a different opinion. I enjoy my feral druid but I really only play casually and for fun these days. I gave up raiding back in Cataclysm and don’t have a guild these days so it will never happen again.

If I didn’t enjoy the character anymore, it would be relegated to the same “cold storage” as my death knight, shaman, and monk. None of which are fun anymore.

It is the definition of a miserable experience. I don’t wish it for my enemies.

There’s a worse experience than alliance feral, horde feral is worse. At least alliance side you get a semblance of vanish.

You realize that Feral is actually in a decent spot right now, right? And that it feels fine in SL? That they fixed our main rotational talent for the first time ever and we have a ton of new CC?

When people say this stuff, I always wonder where they’re getting these opinions from, because it’s not from truthful sources. Feral is the better of the druid DPS specs in PvE right now. Balance is kinda trash.

As a feral druid who is 11/12 Mythic and progging on the last boss, feral is fine. It’s not OP, but it’s in the top 10 raid DPS globally. Also, our AoE for M+ is stuuupid high.

What do you mean fixed a rotational talent. I would have to assume you are talking about blood talons which there was nothing actually wrong with. It was changed simply cause people thought it didn’t suit the style of play “heal to do more damage” That being said that talent was never even a reason why feral was struggling to find a place.

Why does Feral struggle its easy to see really. Blizz says were giving you class spells back. Here’s cyclone back yep feral has to come out of form to cast balance doesn’t how about another class spell called rebirth balance doesn’t have to come out of form to cast feral does. These are class spells that one specific spec of the class is punished for casting class spells not spec spells class spells. If they are class spells nobody should be inferior for using them and yet feral is.

I reckon a dev must have been obliterated by a feral once in WoD WPVP 'cause since then feral has been kinda baaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Bloodtalons is wrong. It wastes a GCD for a heal we do not need and it forces us to cast a heal when we want to be doing damage. It’s awful and doesn’t suit the feral playstyle. It feels SO GOOD in Shadowlands. I can’t describe how good it feels. I don’t have to worry about my energy capping during the Regrowth GCD, I don’t have to leave cat form and Prowl before entering combat, I don’t have to pre-cast Regrowth. It’s just so much better. I hate coming back to retail and having to cast a healing spell when I want to be hitting my damage spells.

So, in your opinion, feral doesn’t have a place in the game because they have to leave cat form for CCs?

End of xpac Feral norm, All the borrowed power, all the wheels turning. Take all that away and what is left?

All that CC . . care to elaborate? Might bash if talented, Main takes combo points to use, stealth rake stuns 3 secs, roots on predatory swiftness or hard casting < boo takes you out of form. Sooth more of an enrage dispel, hibernate again takes you out of form only works on beasts and dragons.

Balance druid can do roots in form but not instant. Hibernate, Sooth as well. Might bash as well, Range 1 min aoe interupt < not great but AOE is nice. Also they can talent into Trents which is sexy for keys least in season 1-3 ish Also innervate < nice for raids I’m told.

I am not an expert, but I would think eating spoiled escargot would be worse.
