The only reason they even know he wants to bounce off to a group is because the game forcibly reveals this. It’s up there with the addon that announces people’s loot to users so they know who to hassle to try to get drops when they don’t get what they want. Personal actions and activities don’t need a crowd/audience and there are those of us who would rather avoid the awkward situation entirely by having things not over-shared.
We used to be able to do stuff without everyone knowing or at least not knowing until we got to where we were going. Having that setting back would be nice. Forcing social interaction when one would prefer not to have it [and also to avoid drama] isn’t selfish or isolating. Trying to force players together because we’ve lost so much due to convenience and tech advances isn’t a wondrous thing and it turns many people off.
Oh, and this:
I run my own guild and I have a batch of newer people who I have told they aren’t coming to higher content runs until their gear and experience justifies them and that while me and the more geared and experienced core will helps as our time/schedule allows, a lot of the work is going to fall to them to prioritize and do. It wouldn’t be fair to those of us who have been putting in the effort to slowly and surely rank up keys and get better to not only have to run lower content on our mains and it isn’t helping us long term when their inexperience kills our key.
If you brought new/inexperienced players into the guild to be participating members in guild activities then it is actually rewarding the guild as a whole to take the time to step down a few steps and do lower content with them so they can learn/gear. Not really what the OP was talking about - it’s not his responsibility to run with people he doesn’t want to or even feels uncomfortable around. It is your responsibility as a GM to take care of the people you bring into the fold.
