So my 2 friends and I do a lot of mythics and Heroic raiding currently. We All really like that the Mythic leaver system was put in because most of the time we have someone come in(almost always a dps we usually cover tank and healer roles) and they will botch mechanics, or do no dps and then preciously would just quit the key, so we like that there is a system to try and deter people from leaving. However realistically people can just dc and switch toons and then you are still unable to finish key but they get no penalty because they arent actually leaving so to speak and at the same time if you just wait the timer will run out and they can leave when they log back in. So my thought was maybe they could implement something where at each check point after a boss, if you arent at a certain time remaining then people can leave without a penalty, so that people cant be held hostage. However I think that would need to also have a DC penalty implemented to counter the current tactic of dcing and waiting for people to surrender the key. I don’t know a perfect system but it is still pretty awful watching people come in and just either give up without cleaning their act up or just rage quit.
You need to either isolate it to the completion system or give people the chance to opt out as a group.
There’s no system in which you can motivate people to carry others without negative consequences.
If you want completion, find like-minded people.
If you have this happen all the time maybe its you?
There’s no perfect system. Every time a feature is added to combat one particular issue, it will cause other issues. While I understand no one wants depleted keys or people bailing, this flawed system doesn’t take into account any number of potential issues other than just “they left early, flag them.”
Case in point: my warlock joined a 10 AK. Ready check, good, pull timer, good, insert key, good, countdown, good, start dungeon… tank instantly disconnects. So, there’s 90s gone from key already. Tank back, decides to make up for lost time by overpulling, undergeared healer dies. Repeatedly. Now dps dies because no healing. First spider mini boss not even dead and we’re at 12 deaths (plus lost time from dc). There is zero chance this is going to be completed on time. So, what do you do? Spend what could be an hour on a 25-minute dungeon with a repair bill in the thousands for “completion” IF you’re lucky to even pull that off before someone else bails 20 minutes later or just accept that it’s not going to happen and better luck next time?
I could come up with dozens of other examples, but the point is made. Not every dungeon desertion is “ZOMG TOXIC PLAYERS!” Often times it’s something similar to the above example. One of the biggest problems is people paying for carries. Now I’m not opposed to this in general, but it does have the side effect of overly inflating the ratings that the community (and Blizzard) obsess over. “Oh, this guy has a 2500 rating and a 702 IL, they should be good for this 10.” Then you get them in there and see their numbers or watch them fail easy mechanics and instantly know it’s a boosted score.
How do we fix this? Well, if Blizz is going to cater to the “punish leavers” crowd, maybe add in a feature where people have to check a box that says “I’ll finish the key no matter what” or “only interested in timing it” filter on the LFG page? But a system that just arbitrarily punishes without asking the why behind it is just as flawed.
Sounds like someone who is often the problem or does low keys so they have no idea what happens in the 12-14 range.
Its not a matter of complete no matter what it is more that people are all too willing to give up at a moments notice, not every key is going to run perfectly, I will agree that in the higher end keys we do like 12-14 range if people arent doing things close to perfect then its a wash but damn people think something is lost if a single thing goes wrong even remotely.
This is rare.
That may be true, but my point remains: this paint everyone with the same brush style punishment system is greatly flawed because it doesn’t account for legitimate situations where it’s just simply better to scrap it.
you should be able to replace leavers if it’s completion/post timer etc.
I think it’s a bit hypocritical to want to punish people who want to leave your key and not want to punish the people who bricked the key in the first place.
I’ve yet to see anyone ragelog or hold any of my groups hostage. I’ve had 3 terrible groups. I just stuck it out with 1 group and the other 2 groups voted to disband.
Sure, there are a lot of things that people can do to avoid getting the deserter penalty. But all of them make it more difficult/annoying than the previous system, where you could leave any time and instantly join a new group on the same character.
It would be fine with me if the system only applied in keys that were advertised as “Completion”, but I don’t think this is currently possible since the dungeon system and the LFG advertisements are not interconnected.
More ppl are indvertently boosted by good players compensating for them in keys than by actual boosters.
I’m sure that’s the case, but one doesn’t invalidate the other. The point still remains that the new system is super flawed.
they should have just gotten rid of the depletion system.
I would have been fine with lesser loot/crests for an untimed key (and no score) - in exchange for the kye level staying the same so that the people who wanted this system can stop whining about it already
Then they’ll complain even more cause failure rate skyrockets…
Problem is one of expectations and communication…
Read this one, in favor of it, for 12 and higher.
People rather type /abandon than an actual message in chat.
Actually make a proper area too report griefers. Rn the report system dosent even have a proper way of doing soo, all they need too do is set that up and punish those individuals.
Leaving a group isn’t griefing. Try again.
Natina, you’re going to get a lot of people pushing back on what you’re suggesting b/c most of us on here DID NOT WANT this system because it punishes the wrong people.
This system should only have been put in place for “completion” groups.
There is no universe where someone not having a good time should be forced to stay in a key simply because 4 other people demand it. This kind of crap makes there ZERO accountability for the ppl who play like garbage. And yes, there are PLENTY of those people in the LFG pool.
No, but deliberately pulling extra packs, AFKing or going offline in order to avoid a leaver penalty is.
