I enjoy leveling alts, and I really like all the improvements made in recent WoW to leveling… except one thing. Now you level way too fast and you can’t even see the full quest lines for the expansion you pick, you hit max level after like 1/3rd of the content. Is there any items or debuffs you can get to lower the XP so you can experience the leveling in a much better paced way?
I think in Final Fantasy Fourteen your xp gets stopped once you reach max level for an expansion and resumes once you finish the main story? Not sure but it’s possible in wow as well, just not automatic.
there’s an NPC in Orgrimmar and Stormwind that allows you to freeze your exp gains, believe that’s the closest you can get
and
There’re NPCs that allow you to completely turn off exp gains (as noted above), but no, there aren’t really any ways besides that to nerf the amount of exp you get. There’re other hoops you can try to jump through like ignoring rares, not making use of gathering professions, and minimizing your rested bonuses, but with how the game’s set up I think the best option is to just level up anyway and simply continue questing after you hit max level (since that’s what the game wants you to do anyway). At least this way you’ll start getting a lot more gold from the quests so there’s a bit of a silver lining to it!
If I understand the way Chromie Time works, when you enter Chromie Time then all the quests in every zone from BfA and earlier will level along with you, and give you appropriate increasing XP up to level 50.
So Chromie Time won’t turn off your XP, but instead it will ratchet up the XP you get from a zone as you level up, and increase the level of the mobs as you level up. Which accomplishes leveling through an entire expac in a meaningful way.
For Horde, Chromie is located in the Goblin Slums in Org, sorry I don’t know offhand where she is for Ally.
No but you can pause Xp gain completely.
XP never gets stops. Exp is decreased for the patch quests but you do get some exp, and you get full exp for initial MSQ quest regardless of your level in relation.
Yes, you can turn XP off entirely. Just level to a point you’re comfortable with, turn it off, then do all the quests for that level range. Turn it back on when you’re done or when you want to level up again. You could do all of an expansions quests without gaining a single point into XP.
There is no way to slow experience gains, only to turn them off altogether.
Best things you can do:
- Not use any heirlooms because they extended rested experience gains
- Dont leave your character in a rested area when you log off so you never get rested experience
- if you wish to experience a complete storyline but are getting ahead, wait until you get close to a level gain and then go turn off your experience until you complete the content bit you want to do.
That’s all I can suggest off the top of my small pink head.
If you want slow then try classic
You still do accumulate rested XP; it’s just much slower if you aren’t in a specific rest zone.
Actually there is. Just be in the same party as someone who has their exp turned off and every party member receives a debuff that slows experience gain by 95%.
It seems it was added in 8.1 to prevent twinks from power leveling people in the freehold dungeon.
I wonder if that would work if you used your own second account. Like, had a high level character party synch with your low level character, and then played the low level. I dont have a second account so Im not sure how it would work out.
A low level character in a party with a higher level character gets 0 xp for kills, only for quest rewards. If a level 50 and a level 49 are in a party together, the level 49 gets 0 xp. They really, really don’t want you to group with your friends when you level.
No, they don’t want people AFK and being leveled by a high level friend/booster/second account.
The fact it’s in place is a GOOD thing, if you want to level with friends they can start new characters with you.
Do you carry your friends’ alts through mythic+? I bet you do, but god forbid somebody could carry their buddy through a low level dungeon.
Casuals should not play with their friends, but okay for elites to grease that palm. They should dump them and recruit friends who they can use and discard, like you do. Then recruit new friends, until they are no longer useful and should be replaced.
Wanting to play with your friends is wrong. What do you think this is, a social game? You should have to reroll every time and make sure you are on the exact same level to make sure you don’t lose 100% of your xp.
People like you are what’s wrong with the community.
Retail, and SOM this kills the xp.
TBCC this still works. For now…they are looking at the option of SOM fixing for classic. With no LFD.
So retail should be happy they have a decent lfd lol. its not exactly thrilling times to /dance by a dungeon not on the top 10 channel 4 lfg list.
Best you can do in WoW for extending the leveling is, as others have already pointed out, stopping all xp at whatever level you want to.
I suggest 49, as it gives you access to chromie time and a nearly complete class skill set.
You can stay at level as long as you want and experience all the the games questing story you choose too.
Currently chronologically, you should play TBC >WotLK >cata(1-30 and the 30-50 zones are at same point in the timeline) >MoP >WoD >legion >BFA >Shadowlands. Most of the dungeons have zone quests that lead up too them, but are not required.
Other than turning off xp gains you can probably slow it down by not using heirlooms or potions that speed it up.
Also log out in the wilds so you don’t gain rest xp bonuses as fast.
