Why would a tank or healer that already outgears the content bother with a random group?
lose the quotes next time buddy
you aren’t “wrong”, you’re just plain wrong
like i wouldn’t have taken a 440 healer into a +14 either but the fact of the matter is that requiring 470 to do a +14, which DROPS 470, is beyond unnecessary and comes within spitting distance of being the m+ equivalent of “fresh full normal run aotc required”
Calm down, move on already I have already agreed that I was “wrong” and everyone was “right”.
Stop being toxic , we need to do better as a community.
Besides my topic title was asking for something else and not necessarily about the item level thing.
Irony you say the community needs to not be toxic but this thread started because you complained that a healer didn’t out gear the run enough for you to have an easy time coasting a +13 and that didn’t seem fair to you.
see your problem here is that you still don’t get it
the quote marks around “wrong” and “right” imply that you don’t actually agree with the assessment that you are wrong in this particular scenario
and imagine calling other people toxic when you’re the one making a salt post on the forums about a group leader who invited a healer that you personally considered undergeared
sure your topic title asked for one thing but something like 90% of your post was about something else entirely, and that’s what everyone’s responding to
If you use details you can see ilvl and other info about your party if you hover over the little check mark at the top.
Everybody is wrong here.
The right answer to your question is, “There are addons for that”. I use Khes’yc Ilvl, but I’m sure there are others as well.
I recently had a group apply to a very low key I posted. The healer was 486, his buddy was 300. I figured the healer would take care of his buddy, and he did, as well as being top damage.
the sad thing here is in the time spent on applying for, getting into, and running that one key, the i300 guy would have earned multiple i415 drops just from doing emerald dream quests
I was running 13s with a BDK who was ilvl 410 and 3 chesting them. If anything, I personally prefer dps with higher ilvl. In my experience tanks, and especially healers, can get away with much lower ilvl.
As to your question about ilvl, sometimes you can see it on Details. That’s what I check, then sometimes I just inspect.
you should be using the raider. io addon if you are playing with pugs. If I was in a pug group and a low score healer at 440 joined in even a 13 then I’m leaving. I’m not dealing with that, especially in pugs. 440 is very well capable of a 13 if they are a decent player, but a pug is a huge if.
all I’ll say is looking at your parses it may be a personal performance issue.
But he was part of a two person group that included an ilvl 486 resto shaman. Basically insta queue.
Def not for you to decide.
Use details addon, you hover over a green check mark along the top of the small screen and it will show you the ilvl of everybody and what buffs they have such as consumables.
I just did a 13 as a 440 healer.
And I want to say it’s HILARIOUS how much dps at higher ilvls do crap dps, stand in crap, and don’t interrupt or even help with the affix will still blame a low ilvl healer for their poor playing.
Love it.
It doesn’t even bother me if somebody isn’t playing great lol but when they feel the need to blame somebody for it is when I wanna scream.
It’s definitely not always the healers fault let alone their job to take care of others failings.
Will also add healing is less gear dependent than any other role. It’s helpful big time but not as dependent.
I mean if theres no other healers around a 445 healer can do a 13 key really easily
But why bother with the 415 drops if he’s being carried fine in the lower keys? He’s getting vault slots open, he obviously has two chances at loot drops each dungeon, and if needed he’s getting experience and practice in the dungeons.
I’m a full advocate for how easy gearing is via quests, don’t get me wrong, but at the same time I don’t go around negativily judging those that do otherwise.
I healed a +12 Fall on my 445 Ret Pally, gear was perfectly fine for content, doesn’t mean the player was though haha.
To answer your question, health is a good indicator of ilvl.
I mostly agree with this.
All the posts telling op it’s not an ilvl issue are true, but kinda unnecessary except where they explained why.
He asked for ways to find out info so he can pick and choose his groups. His methods won’t give the best results and it’s fine to explain why, but it’s perfectly acceptable for him to want to do it.
Either give the man a method, provide alternatives (raider io scores/completed runs) or kindly explain why ilvl isn’t a good indicator.
Pretty sure the guy decided some aggressive looking comments weren’t worth it and gave up on talking here, though.
The time you spend waiting for a healer who’s 470 who WANTS to do a 14 key will be outweighed by getting a lower item level and doing it now. ![]()
A +14 is a low key, even week 1 of this patch. The item level shift only matters in pushes, and we were timing 20s on that first Fort/Incorp/Sang week at 453-459 using our old tier sets and balance changes.
Stacking DPS with a weak tank means you can afford to pull smaller and still time it. Having a juiced tank or healer with weak DPS doesn’t change that, since the tank can’t contribute as effectively compared to 2-3 geared DPS. Furthermore, you face CC attrition trying to pull bigger around that.
It’s so much easier to boost from my 488 Fyr’alath warrior for my friends’ low level tanks and healers, than it is to tank the keys myself and carry 2-3 DPS at 430-440.
