Is there a way to DPS while still using a Shield?

I would like to be able to use a shield, as I log the aesthetic of them. But I don’t want to tank.

Is there a way for me to spec out a talent tree for Arms or Furry to be able to do this?

Not for any serious content. But if you’re just playing hyper casual and you really REALLY REEEEALLLYY want to play a DPS spec with a shield, you cab just slap one on and use shield slam. It’s a massive damage loss and a total meme, but if it makes you happy then go nuts buddy.

Or just play ele shaman.

NP lizard bro.
Maybe we’ll see a heroic return of gladiator stance one day, or hero talents will open up some interesting options at some point.

What is your aversion to tanking?

It’s really just DPSing but also using defensives at the same time, especially as a protection warrior since your healer should be the one keeping you alive as long as you’re pressing the odd defensive cooldown on tankbusters.

If anything tanking is one of the easier roles to learn as well so if it’s from a mental block, get over it and enjoy the fun that it brings from breaking through those pointless issues.

The prot buttons are still too new to me. I’ve only just now started Warrior.

That on top of the fact that I honestly feel anxious when people start spam pulling if I’m not going fast enough for them.

Usually I main healers. I’ve tanked as a Monk, DK, and Druid before.

But I’m just not comfortable enough Warrior to want to Tank, with the pressure that comes with being a tank.

And Void Elves can’t be paladins yet, otherwise, I’d just play a Holy Paladin to heal and damage with a shield, lol.

Yeah that’s fair, a good summary is the following.

Shield Slam is Mortal Strike/Bloodthirst press it on cooldown. Thunderclap is your AoE/Rend applicator Press it on cooldown. Revenge - Offensive rage dump, press when it’s free to use or when you’re wanting to spend rage offensively, also applies Deep Wounds to AoE targets.
Devastate - Pickup Devastator and it uses itself.
Execute - Rage dump for more damage.

Shield Block - Press on cooldown
ignore Pain - Defensive rage dump, press as much as possible.

That’s 7 buttons of your core right there, you now know more than over half the tank population that queues into m+ keys.

The rest is all offensive cooldowns or defensive cooldowns that you’d cycle through as needed.

You’re not going to get anywhere with that attitude.

Change that feeling of anxiety to apathy instead, if they pull and die, they die. It’s their run back not yours. You’ll never play with them again so who cares? Roast them in the process and have some fun.

You should comfortably be able to do most casual content pulling 2-3 packs at a time and then it just ends up being you pressing your aoe rotation and those mobs sticking to you like glue.

Tanking is just dps’ing but the tank can’t kite the mobs from you. At a certain point you need to learn when to hit defensives but you can’t get really far just being prot dps queueing for the tank role.

It’s not just that, there’s a little more to tanking. You’re expected to know the mchs and when to tank.

Let me tell you about a little thing called “Gladiator spec” and what Blizzard stole from us.

They don’t have Void Elves or Blood Elves though, which are objectively my favorite races. So it’s not as appealing to me personally.

Night Elves are a good pick, but it kinda sucks when I’m used to all of the cool customizations I can use on my Nelves in retail.
