I need to disable this constant popup and the glowing affect on the spell-book icon.
Now before you go all moomoo on me, you need to know that there’s a certain prot warrior talent that is always selected but never actually used (rend) due to its interaction with blood and thunder. Of course if blood and thunder was ever changed in the future, no one would ever pick rend. But that’s not the topic of discussion here. What is is annoying popups.
It should be noted that in 10.0 this pop-up did not constantly harass players. Unselected abilities would happily remain unused in the spell-book. So I’m guessing blizz changed something in one of the later patches.
Perhaps there’s an add-on to suppress it? I suppose I could just dump it in some out of the way place on my action bars. But I’d rather not waste precious UI space if I can avoid it.
Slightly off-topic, but i’d love an addon to block the profession one from nagging me to spend my points, that nagging flash is why my points are haphazardly spent all over the place lol
Yes it is. The default UI has had this “functionality” for a long time. The only difference was sometimes it wouldn’t work properly. Hence why you would sometimes come across threads on this forum about it.
Nope. My tutorials have been off for years. Don’t know what to tell you. As far as I’m aware this has been a part of the default UI for years now. My addons are all switched off and this is still happening so that’s also proof this is part of the default UI.
Just thought i’d chime in too, as someone that runs a bare bones UI with very little in the way of addons, i never have this happening to me… very odd.
It’s easy to replicate for anyone. All you need to do is remove an ability from your action bar. Then change specs. Then change back to that spec that you were in before. Boom. Pop-up every time regardless of your tutorial settings.
Well as someone who switches specs depending on the type of content i’m doing, it sucks balls.
That’s what I’m doing in the meantime. I’ve simply dumped the ability in a hidden action bar to prevent the pop-up from recurring. I wish blizz would stop doing this kind of hand-holding for us. I understand that there are certain people that need that level of “assistance”. But I’m not one of those people.
i just toggled tutorials, and toggling it reset it… now i’m getting told about spells and how to use the trading post… clicking through them all has made them stop
i can see why it would give a one-time reminder, and that may be what you’re encountering if it’s only happening when you change specs.
if it persists after you’ve told it to go away, that’s a bit rough… and it shouldn’t happen.
I’m glad others notice and are annoyed by such things. Lol.
I deal with and all but while I don’t play warriors often along the same lines as what OP talks about there’s an ability, shield block I believe, for pallies that the game UI keeps nagging to use it or have it on your action bar . Before some basement dweller wow lifer or edgey emo teen days their dumb sarcastic comment about the complaint … reading comprehension time …ready ?
I’m not saying it’s a huge deal that gets in the way of me enjoying the game, I’m merely saying that it’s an annoyance.
The slight tad of irony with the pally shield thing even if you are ret , the spec that even the description in the ui itself says does not use a shield (it’s a two handed weapon spec). The ui still does the suggestive visual reminder as “hey use shield block” meanwhile the ret player is thinking “but im not using a shield???”
Another thing on this topic ? No matter how many characters are on your account 20 , 50 whatever and no matter how many are level capped…create a new one.
Now tell me why does the game still do the dialog prompts like it’s your first time with showing you the UI elements.
Also …my tutorial is turned off.
