The current sound for guns sounds awful and makes me sad. Is there a mod or a way I can customize the sound of the hunters gun?
iirc, many years ago Blizzard changed the old gun sounds to what we have now because people complained it was too loud. And now people complain it sounds like a wet noodle hitting a refrigerator…
But yes, the above mod should work pretty well.

OldGunSounds mutes the default gun sounds and then plays the old ones when you shoot. 
It also provides old bow sounds and the old Kill Command sound.

This is what I have been using. It lets you add custom sound files to any abilities. You just have to source the .ogg sound effects from online.
