Is there a way to cast an aoe at a set distance away with a button?

I am playing classic and I would like to use distract at a set distance away from me? I just want to easily stealth up to a target and make them turn around without fiddling with AOE stuff. I know you can cast it under your feet so I was curious.

Sad, but thanks. Does targeting on a unit make them turn around at least?

Distract is a reticle spell, you can’t cast it on a target.
