Problem, I decided to try for mimirons head today. Before and after reset. So i decided to do all encounters on hardmode. I got frozen on Flame Leviathan, 60 seconds of being frozen, but i keep on getting refrozed every 15 seconds.
I can’t do anything, and he is at 3%. I have tried alt+f4 and afk’d for 20 minutes, log back in and I’m still being attacked.
So is there a way to auto kill you character?
If you use the “character stuck” option and your hearthstone is on CD it’ll kill your character. But it tries to hearth you first.
I was gonna say this, but does it not have a cast time, meaning it won’t work if he’s stuck in perpetual combat / frozen?
Yeah. Maybe if he deletes his hearthstone from his bag first then it’ll default to the killing? You can replace your hearthstone at any innkeeper after deleting it.
Anyway, OP, I don’t see why it would keep your character logged in forever.
For now, if character unstuck doesn’t work (try it first - and yes delete the hearthstone first), I’d put in a ticket and log off (or onto another character) until closer to xpack launch.
I can’t imagine the game keeping your character logged in for hours because of a freeze mechanic when you’re not even online, despite your 20 minute thing.
Update: Some people talking about a similar issue like 5 years ago said they queued for Arena Skirmishes (or BGs or whatever) and took the queue to get unstuck.

alt f4 exits you out of game. I then left my computer to go do things around the house for 20 minutes. Then i logged back in.
The character unstuck thing worked.
Teleported me to a westfall graveyard.
the stuck doesnt have a cast time at all. it will immediatly teleport you infront of your main city when used
Needs to be 30 minutes or more for the instance to despawn and soft-reset.

I wonder what would happen if you dropped group.
The easy way out of raids nowadays is to go in to the group finder, create a group, list it, then just immediately drop group. This bind the instance to the group, and when you leave it, you’re kicked in a minute.
I don’t know what happens if you do this while in an encounter, however.
I’ve been in that exact spot before lol
Stay logged out for like 30-40 minutes to really make sure the system kicks your character out of combat
sorry for the 2 year necro, but i got stuck in the pipe organ in Karazhan and this saved me from hearthing

it’s happened to me several times over the years, but most frequently in Sl’s.
It’s very frustrating. I’ve disabled every add-on and logged completely out. Hard shutdown on computer, and waited 24 hours. What I remember is after this was done I was able to hearth home. More than a few times I’ve logged on and my toon had 3% life and had left it in an inn. Weird.
