Dragonage Orgins comes to mind for something that is nearly close to WoW while being offline single-player.
You mean Dragonage Inquistion?

What is this world coming to?!
did you show her your parses and io?
I had to Google the quest line because I thought I screwed up dialogue options somewhere lol.
I’ve really been enjoying wolcen. They actually fixed all the bugs in a multitude of patches. I’m actually pretty surprised by the game.
Same. I’m so insanely tired of being held back by other people’s ability, or just needing people in general
Well here’s a list of action rpgs I’m going to play some time soon, many of them with not entirely customisable characters:
PS4 Immortals Fenyx Rising, Nier automata, horizon zero dawn, Sekiro, Marvel’s Spider-Man, monster hunters world, God of war.
PC Cyberpunk, Deus ex, Deus ex mankind divided, assassin’s Creed rogue (black flag was great)
The ragdoll physics just kill the atmosphere.
Mount & Blade. Not so much with the story in the default game, but the modding community is extensive. It’s a freeform, sandbox, resource-driven, 3rd person RTS medieval warfare game. And it’s got the best combat I’ve ever seen in a game. It was actually CREATED because the creator, Armagan, had an idea for an simple, intuitive, but deep combat system.
You start as a nobody and build up your skills and army over time. But because the combat is player-skill based more than anything, you CAN beat lvl 30 npcs at lvl 1 if you play it smart.
My only suggestion is to go into the settings files and up horse agility from the ~10 range to more like 40-50. For some reason he decided that horses should behave like low-cc Vespas.
You play a single character, but you can give your troops orders in combat like “hold this position”, “spread out”, “close ranks”, “forward/back 10 paces”, “charge”, etc. Meanwhile, you have to remember that you’re in the battle yourself. You can be the epic front line hero or the skilled back line general.
I spent sooooi much time in Origins back in the day. Clocked in 60 hours on that game
Before starting the dlc.
Great game.
You also can’t go wrong with elder scrolls: Skyrim one of the best games I played.
The only thing the comes close where you could actually play your character is Soul Calibur 6 and that’s only a competitive fighting game.
Perhaps with the proper modding systems in Elder Scrolls, Minecraft, or Fallout 4, you could perhaps play as your character. My best recommendation would perhaps take study in modeling and coding take apart a pre existing game and reskin it entirely to having the perfect immersion.
If you’re really skilled and patient, you can create an entire game from scratch to obtain the feeling of playing your character. (It’s best recommended to have friends to test it.)
As gaming engines advances creating games will become more simple and less time consuming; since your entire development team is guaranteed to be Artificial Intelligence.
