I have poor vision.
is what it is.
kinda would like to hear the story read to me by a robot or something. hard to read even if enlarged.
any such a item? addon? feature? optional toggle?
IK of an addon (mostly for the visually impaired) called “Sku”(https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/sku) , but it’s much more than just downloading it from Curse. The description goes more in depth with where to go and what to do.
IK of a SoD group that consists of a few players who are visually impaired that run / know more about this addon than I do, and they’re all in a Discord together.
I can send that inv to you, as well but somewhere else. Lemme know.
EDIT: The addon itself has its own Disc server, too, in its description.
EDIT 2: NVM, it’s not avail for Retail. Thought, I saw one for Retail. BRB
there’s an addon for classic that voices (using AI) every quest in the game. Despite some of the voices being wonky, it’s actually really nice imo
wish we had that for retail
or I wish blizzard would stop being stingy and just pay for voice acting, plenty of other games are fully voice acted, wow in comparison barely has any.

Belular wanted to turn the whole game into a game with voice.
Then Blizzard butchered the project with lawyers, iirc.
Thought, I saw a Retail version. Not as instense as “Sku” but more of what the OP is looking for and available for Retail:
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/questtts
EDIT: There’s even a video demostration, in the description. I, personally, haven’t tested it, yet, though so GL!
It’s outside the game but you may be able to screen cap and paste the picture of the quest text and ask chat gpt to write out the text.
It has a read aloud feature. Not sure if it works in the free version but I just did it with a picture that had “Scary Skitterer” in it and sure enough… it said the picture says “Scary Skitterer”
there’s a tts addon that i use. it’s not great, but when you wanna experience quest-text, that one’s pretty handy. i treat it like it’s an in-game radio-station/podcast. ![]()
They sure did, though if I remember correctly the addon was adding story elements and changing text in places, which is what brought the hammer down on them. Had it just been voice acting it would have been fine.
I will test this at the very least and I can read just fine. I like the idea of hearing it.
There is also one called “Chatty Little NPC”, I have no idea how good it is.
oh damn. why would they change stuff?
It’s weird that they don’t have an option to read quest text since they do have text-to-speech for chat built in.
Lemme know how it goes!
Because I have a fully-blind (physically no
) friend who I help with games, I’m familiar with a few add-ons for WoW and mods for other games that help facilitated blind or low-vision accessibility. Sku is quite a good effort in Classic that gives him some semblance of solo play—with some frustrations still though—and pretty decent fun with a visual guide. For retail, he’s tried a few times using the blindslash add-on (after trying with help from me with just using questtts). He’s tried it in the past about a year or more ago and then here a few months back, but each time he didn’t find it nearly as useable as Sku. Still, it might be useful to someone though it doesn’t appear to have been updated recently:

Sadly, in WoW here, there’s not been a ton of good accessibility options for those who have very-limited or no vision, which is a bit sad since Diablo 4 has great accessibility for those folks: not the best in the industry, but good enough that the game is at least fun and much of the lowest difficulty solo-able or semi-solo-able for someone who is blind.
My voice in game (in my head of course) is Richard Boone, the voice of Smaug in that old old Lord of the Rings cartoon.
It was meant as an overhaul of the vanilla questing, so it was filling in gaps between quests. Instead of just going to a mine and looking around you’d get something describing the villain talking to whatever is living in there ect. Basically it over stepped what blizz allows for addons and i’m assuming crossed into ip infringement.
I will read to you for 45$ an hour.
i have something like this already. i either use sulivan+ or seeingAI which takes text and reads it for me. that being said, its not easy to read off computers so ill check this solution out. ty FB
sorry but i have a person that can do it for 5 dolars a hour ( literally )
Ah got you! Yw ![]()
