Is there a plot being uncovered that shows time is broken or are devs wrong?

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/rupert-the-gentleman-elementals-carbon-dating/1584449

It starts with Rupert, the highly intelligent earth elemental, stating it’s been 2 decades since cataclysm. Unless this is a dev error and someone thought chromie time where cata comes before TBC and Wrath is the true timeline, then you will have to take Rupert’s retcon with a grain of salt.

Because later in the quest chain, The Mechagnome Tellywin Sharpfizzle goes on to say “This timeline is… wrong. The Dragon Isles were sealed just after the black dragons fell. But there are hundreds of test records…”

Has more time passed on Azeroth than we think? Have we been stuck in some temporal anomaly caused by Murozond during the events of Cataclysm? Find out next time on Dragonflight Z

I think the Dragon Isles have been in a constant time loop of sorts? What with the Bronze Flight area being all wibbly wobbly timey wimey

If I am not mistaken, and I need to double check, but the time between Shadowlands and DF alone is 5 years so there’s some accuracy in the depiction of that time span. I think your overall post has less to do with the actual timeline of events (can’t be disputed since we’ve been involved since WC1… technically) than other areas stuck in a time bubble or we ourselves are in a time bubble.

I hate time travel/multiverse stuff in general. Even when done well, opens the story to too many paradoxes and contradictions.

I know it’s back to the future but this may shed some into what’s going on. Basically it creates a ripple effect.

It does open the potential to bring back certain characters and rewrite the retcon rewrites of SL. For instance, if this leads to Norzdormu becoming Murozond, the Caverns of Time raids and dungeons become the Bronze flight invading to try to keep the timeline on a better outcome. That would mean things like us going back to Arthas before the culling of Stratholme and telling him all about Zovaal. Or going to the black morass and telling Medivh all about Sire Denathrius, the Nathrezim, and Sargaras. There are of course going to be those that don’t like this, but it does open up a lot of potential to the games story going forward.

I wouldn’t put it past Danuser just forgetting the timeline or using the wrong word. Time and time again I see these theories crop up latching onto tiny little details like this and ultimately nothing really comes of it.

The issue with this is that, according to End Time, we’ve seen Murozonds end and it was supposed to be in a world conquered by the Old Gods with Deathwing impaled upon Wyrmrest Temple.

Problem is, none of that happened. Deathwing is dead, but not the way depicted. The Old Gods are all but defeated (save the last one) as far as we know. So if neither of those things happened, how are we to assume Nozdormu dies as Murozond in the same way?

But he just came out with a big post before DF about the 5 year skip. So he has it fresh in his mind. Perhaps this is the devs trying to plant it in our mind so that we aren’t thinking about oh well what if the timeline is messed up. It’s a classic misdirection attempt by Danuser if it is.

Cata was in 2010, which was 13 years ago.

We skipped ahead like 5 years after SL.

So saying 18 years ago is two decades ago is close enough.

But the timeline has us rediscovering pandaria in 30 ADP (after dark portal)
With DF being started in year 40 ADP.

But the timeline IS MESSED UP. And you know it. We all know it. It’s not just in the game, but in our real lives too.

I’m supposed to be way more important, talented, good looking, likable, and successful than I am in this timeline. It makes no sense. Something is terribly off…

The Earth Elementals have probably had the worst of it when you also consider the Sundering and their princess Theradras perishing.

edit: and then their prince Ozruk later.

I can appreciate that somebody on the dev team felt that the earth elemental there needed some mammaries.

I am so disappointed in everyone failing to seize the opportunity to post the following gif:

In-game timeline isn’t one to one with IRL.
Cata was year 28. DF is year 40.
WoW classic was only in year 25.
In-game timeline it has been 12 years.

Perhaps.
Behind the scenes is probably been working on 10.2/3/4… maybe even writing out some stuff for 11.0

Also maybe he didn’t mean to circle back to the sundering being 2 decades ago. He could have meant it as the last 2 decades (which is when WOW launched) has been crazy as a whole.

There’s a plot?

Maybe god just hates you?

Likely it was a cultural deity design, she was the former god of the centaurs.
