Is there a guide for ret pally pvp?

What talents should i use or what build?

You should watch pikachu_pala stream it will help you alot for stats/essences/corruptions and talents

It will always depend of what you are facing

2s or 3s

3 3 1 3 1 1 3 is a good default build

you can run

1 2 1 3 1 1 3

or vs rdruid in 2s

3 3 1 3 2 1 2

There’s also the paladin discord that you could join, check out the pvp section. Or you could come back home to ED and ask myself, Dipso, Seven, and Frumples. <3

I thought ret paladins just roll their face on their keyboard and nuke people down because their class plays itself and requires no skill at all?

I miss ya folks. Good to see ya out here frumples

Basically copy what I am running. The talents, Azerites, and Essences. Works as a solid default for both single target and AoE, PvP and M+.

Gives you S tier burst, with lots of burst windows, both RNG and on demand.

Only major thing I would change would be swapping out one of my Light’s Decrees for a third Avenger’s Might. But it’s fine, tbh, as they are pretty much interchangleable.

You could also skip the Engineering helm and run 3 Avenger’s Mights and 2 Light’s Decrees. But the mobility caused by the Engineering helm is too good to lose just to add a bit more burst.

Oh, only run Relentless if you are Human. Otherwise, run Gladiator’s Medallion. You definitely need a trinket. It’s just that EMFH works as a very solid Medallion replacement.

Tl;Dr: 2313311, Gladiator’s Medallion, unless Human, in which case Relentless, Unbound Freedom, Hammer of Reckoning, Lawbringer, 3x Avenger’s Might, 1x Light’s Decree, 1x Empyrean Power, 1x Rational Normalization Gizmo, Vision of Perfection primary, Conflict and Strife, Memory of Lucid Dreams, Breath of the Dying.

Let us google that for you, ah yes, several.

Look at Avenglyne’s guide on wowhead, he’s an extremely talented ret with several rank 1 titles. Take a look at Vanguards’ stream, incredibly friendly guy who almost always answers questions who has the most rank 1 titles and the highest ret in NA, and potentially the world.

What talents should i use for pvp?

The numbers represent which talent. For example, the first 2 is Righeous Verdict. Then the 3 is Hammer of Wrath. Etc.

It’s looking to be very, very different in Shadowlands though.

Hey Jawah. Should I copy your talents for pvp?

Yes. But you have to also make sure you have the right Azerites or it won’t really work out. Azerites are just as important, if not more, honestly, than talents.

Yeah I respecced my azerite pieces into exactly what you said. I have 3 avengers might and i get a lot of burst because of it! Thank you so much.

You’re welcome!

What I like best about it is how simple it is, with no need to manage things like inquisition. It’s very straight forward, and packs a whallop during wings.

Good luck and kick butt. Especially casters like Mages and Locks. Smite them good.

Isnt Righteous Verdict the worst option from the first row? If i recall correctly its nerfed to 5-7% in pvp and most of the time you won’t keep up the buff.

I know top rets use zeal and blade of wrath when they know they can sit on the target so they can get more reset, and exe sentence and hammer of wrath when you have to chase a healer or slippery target

Righteous Verdict is nerfed from 15% bonus damage to 10% bonus damage.

Execution Sentence has its damaged reduced by I think 25%. And, the bonus damage it gives is reduced from 20% to 15%.

The only advantage to Execution Sentence is that it gives you a ranged spender every now and then, so you can land a hit, albeit reduced, while at a distance.

Righteous Verdict works a lot better for Divine Purpose, though. And it directly synergizies with it.

A Divine Purpose proc + Righteous Verdict Templar’s Verdict is almost as good as hitting a Judgment amplified Templar’s Verdict.

As for Zeal, Blade of Wrath, Inquisition builds: This comes down to more of a playstyle choice. BoW pairs really well with Law and Order, and Zeal is just there to give you more chances within your uptime to get an Art of War proc. Even though Art of War PPM, it doesn’t mean your auto attacks are guaranteed to proc Art of War, even if you are due.

However, while Law and Order is nice, I really don’t feel the loss of Hammer of Wrath and Divine Purpose is worth it. And I would also rather just put a different talent in Law and Order’s place, like Unbound Freedom.

And Inquisition is just not as good as Divine Purpose for burst potential. Even 1 proc during Hammer of Reckoning’s wings is significantly more damage than Inquisition would have provided. And in less globals.

Plus, you won’t waste lots of potential damage constantly refreshing Inquisition. Because I guarantee you’re not getting 100% uptime with it.

In most PvP scenarios, Inquisition is overall a loss in DPS, because of how much CC you sit in, how often you aren’t on your target, etc. Because it costs you a Templar’s Verdict to use, and for it to be worth it, you really need to get a lot of uptime.

Divine Purpose is better because you don’t waste damage potential like so, and it just gives you free damage. And a lot of it, at that. As Templar’s Verdict is by far our highest damage.

Ya righteous verdict is nerfed to 10% in pvp which in reality is a 33% nerf so at the end of the day zeal/blade of wrath is the highest single target dps for ret provided we have uptime and ES/Hammer gives us the biggest burst window.

That’s what I figured.

Though I can’t seems to be lucky at all with vision of perfection. I fought ret rdruid as ret mw and he got 8procs while I only got 2. Felt bad man

I like to use concentrated flame most of the time and conflict and strife against mage and rogue
