Is there a *Best* pet Type/Role/whatever for PvE Hunters?

Is it like in Legion where even BM Hunters should be using the pets with Leech due to the pets dying too fast? Or does it even matter anymore?

Spirit beasts, extra HP, defensive + a heal.
You should always have a Ferocity pet handy incase you need to BL.

Lately I’ve been hearing people say you should use Clefthoof’s, but I don’t see why that is. Too lazy to google it buy maybe that’s something for you to look at.

Clefthoof’s unique ability Blood of the Rhino makes it sturdier and get more benefit from healing, so it’s the best pet tank.

My main is a hunter. I would say the leech on ferocity pets definitely is still a noticeable difference for their survival during solo play. Tenacity spirit beasts (I think they are all tenacity but I only have loque) have their place in some raid fights that have really intense raid damage taken though (I used one for halondris prog) due to their damage taken ability and heal for you.

I’ve heard the thing about clefthoofs a lot but I’ve never actually tried one. I’m not trying to say they are not good.

Aye, they are.

I tend to use cats in dungeons just because prowl helps my pet not bodypull mobs when doing skips and it has heroism. It’s just my personal preference (I hate dismissing and calling my pet to go over a little pillar in NW, for example).

I go for scale hides for soloing (dont play bm anymore just sv). I mostly pick ferocity pets for mythic plus. I use a ravager and wolf for there pet abilities and there looks. I tried using a bird from bastion but the constant screeching was very annoying.

ferocity pets are best, even with tanking adds in the open world. players who do m+ and higher end raiding use spirit beasts for the def buff and heals to help with progression, but honestly, i still use ferocity pets because it’s so easy to avoid damage as a hunter that the leech and better dps from pet nullifies the buff/heal… but that’s just my opinion.

Core hounds are nice, all the benefit of a Clefthoof, + a small DoT. I keep a ghost buzzard for those pesky Devourers…

yeah, core hounds and those mutts from korthia (can’t think of the name of them) make great all around pets because they have a defensive personal cd as a ferocity pet.
