Is the reason WoW is so bad now that Blizzard refuses to pay their employees fair wages?

Oh em gee you two are just so funny.

Classic is worlds more popular then Retail.

no it isnt.

Retail has

  • a more active general discussion forum
  • a more active reddit
  • more views on youtube and twitch

Those have no indication about the actual player base.

Most players donā€™t use Forums.

Reddit isnā€™t the be all place.

Last one is a lie. Watch Twitch during any major Classic event versus Retail. There is a large disparity in whats more popular. Also, most people that I play Classic with refuse to watch someone else play a video game. I still donā€™t know how I manage sometimes to be honest.

Since being parsed doesnā€™t require any forum activity, addon downloads or activity on Reddit, its a better measurement. One Person can Parse for 39 other members.

outside interest definitely has a strong correalation.

yes, the classic wow launch had a lot of views, but nothing released afterwards came close. the race to world first had a ton of views. as did the mdi. and outside of events, retail decisviely does more views than classic does.

retail is more popular than classic wow currently.

edit: i see delicimus made the same arguements as me, so no point in beating the dead horse. <3 delicimus

Correlation isnā€™t causation. Just because thereā€™s more activity from a different game base doesnā€™t mean thereā€™s more of them.

Can you answer why the total parses players differ so much? 500k in 200 days is somehow > then 6million in 10 days. Or just going to glance over that one again?

Sure it is.

Thereā€™s an army of them.

No. There is no shortfall in the stock price and profit margins have continued to climb. The last probably 2 years has been over 20% profit margin quarter to quarter.

Insofar as Iā€™m aware developers are not underpaid (engineers and CS probably are).

So financially everything is fine. For now.

Personally I think itā€™s just the pandemic and the release of Classic that kept WoW where it is. That and the store. Imagine someone who played WoW 10 years ago returning to it now having been unable to do anything else seeing the store and services for the first time and dropping a ton of money there.

And of course the scummy practice of pushing people into buying tokens for the AH mount and carries.

None of this means the retail game is in a good state however. So itā€™s going be like this for a couple more years until the pandemic clears and people have had options to not be associated to retail. I donā€™t expect SystemLands (not mine BTW) to be a poor performer but I think the design has hit attrition in BFA and SL will just be more of the same grind. By 10.x I think itā€™ll be abundantly clear that they need to change.
