I haven’t done MC yet, but people around me are saying the fire resist check is a code check, where if you don’t have the minimum fire resist you simply die for no fault of healers or your own performance.
Is this true?
In the past, resistance checks were able to be overcome by skill. You took a bit more damage, and your very skilled healers could overcome that damage through solid game play.
You are correct and accurately described how resist used to work in vanilla/classic. Skilled players used to be able to overcome resistance checks. The exception being 1 or 2 boss fights in a given raid instance, which is completely different than requiring 200+ resist for the entire raid. No raid in vanilla required resist for the entire raid, it was only specific encounters such as Rag (tanks only, since GFPP covered everyone else), Firemaw, Viscidus, Huhuran, and Sapphiron. About one boss per raid. Even for these resist encounters, you didn’t get ONE SHOT by not meeting an arbitrary # of resist.
The arbitrary # of resist needed in SoD to not get one shot is basically an attunement, just a real lame one because you have to wear garbage to be attuned.
This is pathetic…holy hell…copy and pasted SOM…they tricked us into thinking they were actually doing some cool stuff. They copy and pasted SOM mechanics, made a FR check for the whole raid of a ridiculous number that makes it so you don’t even use most of the gear you get from MC in heat level 3. Then added a flaming meatball at the end. Damn, phase 4 was great until we actually found out what the different heat levels mean. LOL
